Did you get a chance to take the double track beyond the cemetary? It may have been a little much for a pig.

Thanks! and NO, I did not....should that be taken as you know a little secret? I left a lot of reasons to go back and explore that area more!

He did... it's the road parallel to this one (both have cemeteries).

Actually I didn't ride the two track next to that cemetery...yet..


The swimming hole...maybe someday I'll accidentally find it again. I think that I remember but now that you've made next year's RDV location official it should be easy to pin down.

That's right...I was doing a little unofficial tentative rally scouting last week.

Yesterday I did some official scouting...sort of. If you count just riding around half lost in a particular area scouting or official.

Pics later when I need an a/c break....got to get a few chores done around here before it gets too hot out first.

Oof! it's hot and sticky outside...and it's not even noon yet!


Yesterday was forecast to be the same so I left before it got too hot and headed for the hills. Rolling through Morganton was warm, even in mesh gear but once atop Jonas Ridge it was actually a bit chilly! Success!

As mentioned earlier, the target was just familiarizing myself with more and more little back roads near where the 2013 RDV will be held.

































I think we'll be able to figure something out by next May.

This is actually pavement....not very shot good 'shot on the fly' pics..but I'll post 'em as an example of the local terrain if nothing else.

Plenty of one laners with blind corners.














Driveways, like this one mid switchback, are great for washing some gravel out into the apex of the turn.
