PS-Hey Darrel, it warns about stationary use and overheating.....how bout using it in the cold and wind for a snowblowing light? Think it'll get enough cooling at 20-30 deg and windy, but without much forward motion? I'm tired of about getting run over...

The warning is mostly for protection. It wont be a problem. We and several customers use it as a camp light and frequently use it as a work light. The case will get warm if left stationary for extended periods. The light has an auto dimming feature to prevent serious overheating.

I'm in. How are the power settings controlled? I plan on wiring it to come on with my high beams on the motorcycle and want full power every time it comes on.

This light has a button on the back to control the 3 power settings or modes. It can be wired to a bike, but in order to turn them on and rotate between high, low and strobe you would need to push the button on the back of the light.
I primarily use mine as a emergency or task / camp light and have ran them as aux lights when in the back country.
for a primary bike mounted light I would recommend another option like the NXG LED

Nope, this is perfect. The reason I asked is that some lights toggle between power modes by turning off and on while others always start on a medium power when first turned on and you have to hit a switch to run on high.

With this light I can:

1. Have an electrical lead powered on high beam and mount the light on the motorcycle turn signal post for an on and off road auxillary light to boost the bike's headlamp,
2. Mount on my motorcycle helmet for the same use with the beam pointed where I'm looking,
3. Un-mount and plug into the Li battery for around camp and emergencies,
4. Strap it on my mountain bike handlebars or helmet with the Li battery for night races,
5. Strap it on my road bike handlebars or helmet with the Li battery for night rides and fall commuting,
6. Strap it on my ski helmet for off-piste night skiing,
7. Use the head mount for night XC skiing, walking the dog, hikes, climbs, hunting zombies, or whatever.

I think this may be the ultimate adventure light. Nice design at a great price.

New higher capacity Batteries, new chargers and the latest XML T6 emitter.
On the negative side they will no longer run on 12VDC so battery is the only way to run them.
