Just posted last week... I'll have my trip from LA to San Francisco tomorrow... I'm sleepy. 440 miles after a week of driving wore my ass out. it averaged 113 until I got 10miles to the hotel and then dropped to 62 - I was freezing. Caught the end of the 2012 Open when I arrived.

I'm planning on Alaska in 2013... I have 250 employees in the big state and currently working the number with the company bean counters... they won't fund the whole trip but a big chunk of it. I plan to ship my bike to Alaska and fly.

Three weeks total with one with my cousin who has a bed and breakfast in Valdez. Want to catch one of those King Salmon.

That's probably a good idea.

Upcoming events

So I updated the upcoming events section with some thoughts for 2013 and also the Alaska trip for 2014. Does anyone have any preference for Alaska dates? I am pretty open so whenever the window of opportunity opens I will most likely be good to go. Also if anybody needs stuff added to the calendar please let me know.

Also Morton's is having a RTE this coming Saturday in case anyone is interested....BBQ! I will add it to the events calendar shortly.

Although exact dates are not known at this point, I would like to be in Dawson for Dusk 2 Dawson, which I would guess would be around the third weekend in June. That being said, and most unfortunately, my work calendar also gets a vote...

Why not just rent a bike up there if your not going to ride up? A bunch of places rent bikes....

As I said at the beginning of the CDR trip...you are always welcome Kev!!! Offer still stands. We can do the TLH in about 10 days if your interested? After the CDR you will be hooked so just start planning to Adventurize the Strom.

Great day at Mortons off road class. Rained all morning!1st thing I learned was make sure all the vents on your Kilimanjaro are closed for water tightness. Stock Metzlers on my GS made the class very challenging. They had about 40 bikes that were divided into 2 groups. The intermediate and the advanced group. I was in the advanced group. The grass cow pasture was very slick with rain and even slicker were the cow patties. Started the day by riding down 6x6's laying on the ground, across 4x4's and over a small wooden ramp. Oh yeah did I mention they were wet and slippery? We Also practiced riding with each knee on the seat as well as both legs to one side while standing. When crossing the 4x4's I started one rolling in front of my wheel. I tried crossing it anyway , but was a little angled and the front wheel slid along it. Down I went. Many bikes when down, some repeatedly. Then we moved to a back field and practiced uphills, downhills and traversing. I got bored and decided to try one of the steeper sections. Made it about 2/3rds the way up and lost all traction. That made me the first guy to practice a j turn. While doing so i slipped and fell over. It was still raining when we broke for lunch. After lunch we headed for the woods. Tight technical downhills, uphills and log crossings. Again very challenging with the stock street tires. More bikes went down. Then we rode the dirt rodes around the Massey farm. Slippery grass, slippery mud but lots of fun! My shoulders are sore as well as my left arm (previous injury). I am not used to riding standing up for as long as we did today. I really enjoyed the class. The rain made it much more challenging. Next time I will have more appropriate tires. This being said I believe I learned more due to the tires and the rain. I would do it again tommorrow! I have some hills and gullies on my property and an old MX track that is overgrown. Maybe I need to get some trails cleared so we can have a practice day if anyone is up for it.
