It's NOT in the manual!
All this discussion about the manual and the information is nowhere in there!
It does not tell you WHERE to put the MP3 files. - not \Garmin\media\ or ANY OTHER location. I've tried \Garmin\media\music and it does not work!!! If I put the same files on the internal flash and it works fine. I REALLY would like to use the SD Card though! |

MP3 files should go here:
\Garmin\MP3\ You will get better indexing performance if you place your MP3's in multiple sub-folders. If this does not work, Format your SD Card and try again. Optimally your SD Card should have the following folders (directories): \Garmin\GPX \Garmin\JPG \Garmin\MP3 \Garmin\POI \Garmin\userdata

Zumo 660 and 16GB
I've seen some people posting 8gb max capacity of zumo 660, my works just fine with 16GB and also tried a 32GB and had no problems, The only thing is that they have to be converted to MP3 and perhaps volume adjusted with MP3Gain to have them all play equally and not having to adjust the volume every time since getting to the volume control it's a pain.

Are your music files MP3
If you use apple or Windows media player they will not always be MP3

The Micro SD Card should show up as a separate drive on your computer. I named mine something catchy so I can remember what it is when it appears on my Mac desktop. I have dumped music files in the Audible folder, a MP3 folder I made, etc. It indexes the card and find all media files so putting them in a certain folder is not necessary but will keep the file system easier to navigate and update files as you go and make the chance of loading duplicates less...

32gb works well in zumo 660
I had a hard time finding exactly which memory cards would work with my 1 week old zumo 660 too. It wasn't totaly clear to me how big of a card I could get. I read this form and bought a scandisk 32gb card from amazon. It works perfectly.

Zumo 660 Music
Ours is on a 64GB Scan Disk with over 3800 songs and works fine.
Do not listen while we ride, but is a great entertainment center at night. Regards Ride Safe

maybe too many tunes
I just got a 660LM a few weeks ago. I had an 8GB card in the house which I started with, but went out and spent the $25 to get a 32GB card (man, is memory ever cheap now!). I then loaded about 4000 songs on the disk (about 20GB of data), and the zumo started working very, very slowly - and seemed to get stuck and not work at all much of the time.
![]() So I deleted about 1/2 of them, and now it's working fine. ![]() It'd be nice to be able to have as many songs on there as is space on the card, but looks like there is some sort of indexing process going on when I turn it on. My guess is that the processor can only handle so much data at a time. When I had too many songs on there I had 2 things happen: 1) The maps simply wouldn't render and navigation wouldn't start for quite a while...if at all, and 2) when the media player did it's thing, I could play whatever playlist I had at the last use, but wouldn't let me browse for quite a while..if at all. But once I reduced the amount of songs by 1/2 (around 2k songs and 10GB of data), it works great again. Of course, my entire music collection on my PC is more like 60GB+, but looks like I'll just swap out music now and again. If I played the entire collection from my PC, it would take about 40 days with continuous music playback (still have about 6 full days of tunes on the zumo now....that's an awful lot of hours of music still |

Do you have you MP3 files in sub folders, or just a bunch of MP3s?
Garmin\MP3\Artist\Album\MP3s works well, 16g card; 2g City Nav map, 2g Topo24 Map, about 1000 songs
