How would the supermoto version do as a daily rider, no highway, just two lane? How reliable is the engine? How are the maintenance intervals? Any info would be great.

    What's your daily mileage?

The engine is very reliable, but it's obviously a light weight high performance machine and not some understressed KLR lump, so it requires more maintenance. I'd say 1000-1500 km oil changes are ok if you don't overheat the oil, maybe even 2000 kms in a pinch but by then it will not lubricate as well. Engine rebuilds... nobody has enough kms to know yet, but Inmate Beta is riding his 570 from Chile to Montana, currently at 15,000 kms and no issues so far. I'd guess between 20,000 and 30,000 kms you will at least want to change your piston and rings.

If you can live with that, there won't be many bikes that are more fun in the city and country roads than a FS570.

Hey Lukas, are you or Walter still going to do anything with your 570's to make them a light adv bike or are you happy with how you had them set up in South America?

Started having fuel boiling issue all of a sudden. I replaced the injector but I'm wondering if the pump is on the way out. It's the black cap style that supposedly is the bad one? After I ride it for a bit, the idle gets high and it feels hot, if you know what I mean. I'm going to check the fuel pressure tonight and see what I'm getting. Any words of wisdom? I've got a brand new CA Cycle works pump sitting on the shelf.

All 3 of us are going to add some fuel capacity, that is definitely too little stock. How we are going to get is not sure yet, we would love to have a rally style fairing with split front tanks and an underseat tank like the Berglund Dakar bike when that becomes available. If staying with the simple stock front then the 70 Degree Racing subframe tank is a no brainer - also subject to availability, and if needed a Safari front. Personally if I do a long trip like Barton I would also like to add an oil cooler for some additional capacity and lower temps/longer life.

What happens when you let it cool off Aaron, does it work again normally then? That would point towards the fuel pump, the older ones were built with the clearances too tight so they can seize up when hot.

Checking the fuel pressure when hot should give you a clear answer if that is the case here.

I sent the guys at HT Racing, they make the billet oil coolers for the KTM's, an email, suggesting they make one for the 570 as well.. their only reply was "LOL" I shit you not :D

Just an FYI, the tool tube will not fit as Cyborg has shown with a stock rear subframe. He has a 70* rear subframe/tank.

Well, maybe I shouldn't say "will not" because I guess with some creative "trimming" of the stock rear subframe it might fit but.......

I've put about 800 miles on an MT43 (FE570S) with a 13/50 combo. Reversed the chain adjusters and have about 3/4" (19mm) of clearance as shown here:

Reversed the chain adjusters? Is that common practice? I have a brand new MT43 mounted on a rim with a Cush hub that I was going to try and istall this evening.. I have 13/48 currently but could put the 50 on if needed.

I don't know if it's "common practice" but it allows the axle to move further back in the slot giving room for the taller MT43.

I use the 50 tooth to compensate for the taller tire. Works good.

Flikr is a PITA to post photos from IMHO.. you have to grab the HTML/BBC code from the "share" link..then in adv window here you have to click on the A/A button in the top right corner of your "new reply" window, to switch editor modes and then direclty paste the copied HTML/BBC code from Flikr.. did that make sense? It is the same way you direclty embed a YouTube video.

    Couple things,

1st - frosty what size Kriega bag is that in your pics?

2nd, to carry on with the tire talk, has anyone ever tried Dyna beads in their tires? I know that my Dad runs them in his Harley tires, and I have buddies that have run them in their 4x4's. Think they would work great for dual sporting purposes.

thats a us10, fully packed, i've kept it as far forward as seems sensible to me to as teh subframe gives more support in that area, i may have to unclip it to get the seat off depending on whats in the bag at the time but i felt that it was worth that minor inconvenience

:freaky having looked at all the other options and seeing as all my trail "luggage" is kriega it makes sense to and i can always go to the overlander-30s if i want to. i had thought about using the tank adaptor as others do but i think this is cleaner but unfortunately not cheaper :deal
