Swilleralesbane, your big bike would be OK on the fire roads. One guy rode his BMW 650 on the single track trails and did well. I've since learned how to ride my TE510 on the tight KM single track. Key is putting on the smallest counter shaft sprocket available and using the lever on the the left! Once three miles away from camp, the trails opens up. There is a nice fire road that leads to the South Fork of the Kern River.

Coincidentally, I haul up the bike on a trailer hitch bike carrier. I've had to make a 4" riser to give it sufficient ground clearance, and it works great. Be sure to check if the $200 motorcycle carrier and hitch tongue weight can handle the 450 lb. bike.

There are roads to ride on for a pig bike... but the trails are mostly on the harder side and a small bike is the way to go
a kdx 200 would be good

You can still have a blast with the big ADV bikes such as the KTM 950 or BMW GS. While it would be hard to navigate the Rincon trail, some of the easier trails such as Jackass, Beach, and Rattlesnake will be doable.

The cool thing about almost all the trails are bailouts to fire roads if the going gets too tough.

I'm only a "C" rider at best and was able to navigate the above trails (first time up there) with my 325lb XR650R. Of course I was boiling it going up Jackass!

MXBundy and I will be up there from the 30th to the 5th. We will be in the Troy Meadows campgrounds.

Dale - Smaller bike would be my preference.
