Great town Cooke City! Try the Bear Tooth Cafe right in the center of town. Cold beer and great food. I've still got my T-shirt I bought when I was there 10 years ago. Glad you're OK.

No thank you, Delmar.
One third of a gopher would only arouse my appetite without bedding it down.

Ate there last night. No beer for me in case i hit my head harder then I thought. I feel good today. A little stiff.. like I had a rough day snowboarding. I've been to Cooke city many times in my life but most of the time it was in the winter to sled and board. This was taken the last time I was in Cooke.

Hi Noah,

Sorry to hear of your fall - I'm pleased you are OK! Been following along and enjoying the "ride". Take it easy and maybe no wheelies today .
News here is David (Gunnerbuck) is coming to my place this weekend to help get my 640 ADV starting issue fixed at last.
I've also decided to get the Sony NEX camera since playing with yours and the amazing panorama feature. I can pick up a used NEX 5 or a new NEX 5N with the 18-55 lens. My questions for you are - do you think I should get the 55-200 lens too? (do you use it much?) and, How much of a pain is it not having a built in flash? (and do you use the flash a lot?) The next step up is the NEX 7 with the built in flash but thats way more $. Are there any things that bug you about the NEX 5? Asking this here as it may benefit other inmates.

Thanks for any advice and stay safe!

I don't have the 55-200 lens. Sometimes I wish I did.. but it is bulky.
I rarely use the flash... but having it built in would be nice?
The NEX-7 looks like it has some amazing features. A view finder and 2 programmable control dials. That camera seems like a good step to move to if you KNOW how to manipulate the camera to take the picture you want.
The NEX5 has manual and automatic features. So it seems like if you are going to use automatic most of the time, the NEX7 wouldn't be worth the money. However, I am still going to drool over it for a few minutes! The simplicity is one of the NEX5 is probably one of the things that drew you to it. Don't over-complicate what doesn't need to be.

Good luck with the 640! (and happy camera hunting!)

Thanks Noah, I thought you had more than one lens, or a zoom lens too, not just the 18-55mm.

Do not depend on them being waterproof, very resistant but if it has to be dry you need to depend on inner bag to do that, just FYI as I run them on my Husaberg. Keep living the dream so I can live it vicariously!

Just loving this. Noah - Did I miss a post that tells us where you're off to next, how far you plan to go, etc?

Keeping winnign at life. You're an inspiration. If you swing through DC, you got a place with me.

I'm in Wyoming right now. I am on my way back to MN.. I should be in Tofte by Saturday. I plan on being there for 3 weeks.. or until i get sick of sitting still.. then its a short 2 week loop on the east coast and shipping the bike to the UK. Probably out of Toronto.

I got snowed on going over Beartooth pass today! good to see its still winter somewhere!

Noah,

Sorry to divert your thread but where can you refuel with 91 octane in Superior National forest besides off Hwy 61?

Isabella? Trail Center? Any other locations on/near the dirt roads in the national forest?

thanks,

No worries.
I'm going to have to call my brother in Grand Marais tomorrow. I'll get back to you...

I almost wiped out when I went through Yellowstone. I had a long, warm day behind too many autos and RVs. I skipped lunch and didn't drink a lot of water that day. I was woken up by a park ranger's lights and sirens. I don't remember what I got pulled over for, but he suggested that I get something to eat before I got back on the road. I'll always remember the way I felt that day and how I narrowly avoided a crash...

Keep the rubber side down Noah. Be well.

I am glad to hear that you rode Beartooth pass. I really enjoyed that ride. I stayed in Red Lodge and had my first pint of Moose Drool. It was an enjoyable night.

Safe travels.
