Never got a point of tandem bicycles. Its fun for the first person, but whats the appeal of staring at a sweaty ass of a rider in front of you?
Well unless...

I had a moment like that on my Ulysses one day. Had been riding off road. After probably about a twenty mile ride home I made a right turn onto my street, leaned over far enough to find some mud that hadn't been scrubbed off of the side of my tires, scraped a peg, slapped my foot down and popped back upright. That got my attention.
My friend and his kid were in a truck behind me (dirt bikes in the truck) and thought I was down when it happend. They couldn't believe what they saw.

True. I would have bet that he didn't recover that. More importanly, how did he get the front that out of shape to begin with? I wondered if the right foot dab was an attempt at saving it or the original cause? He was leaned over more than he was comfortable with, dabbed with his right foor and somehow got out of shape from that. Weird and scary!

The front end was that out of shape because he locked the front wheel. I don't think he dabbed. I think his boot was dragged off the peg. My take is: Too hot entering the turn, it tightened up more than he planned. Right foot is hanging off the peg a bit, and is dragged off the peg when he increases his lean angle. Startled, he grabs more front brake and locks it momentarily. He must've had the wherewithall to let off the front brake, or he'd have gone down. Probably a fairly experienced rider who just got caught off guard with that particular turn. The fact that there is an oncoming automobile in the turn may have had something to do with it, distracting him for a moment.

I say that the excessive front brake became secondary when the torque on his knee and ankle focused his attention on his leg. That's gonna be sore later. Don't ask me how I know...
