That's the only model Harley that has any appeal to me. Still wouldn't don a doorag.

You're a big boy. You don't have to wear anything you don't wanna wear.

You are right, just being sarcastic. Nice bike.

In high school, when all I did was read Motorcyclist and study spec sheets, Sportsters weren't cool. When I started buying and maintaining bikes, air-cooled bikes with hydraulic valve adjusters made life easy. When I started wringing the shit out of a relatively underpowered rubbermount XL883 and getting better gas mileage than my old KLR, I found a keeper. It costs nothing to maintain and it has charactor. When the right deal comes around, there will be an XR or XL1200R to keep the 883 company at the house.

Going on a 1500-2000 mile trip tomorrow, have 4 days to complete it,
so I'd take something easy to ride and with nice luggage.

..but my scoot should do fine with about 130l of storage (and I still
have some saddle bags if I want to take it up to almost 200l).

I had one of the red & black ones of that year... wonderful bike. I went and put D&G chambers and rear sets and clubmans on it... it was faster then, but it was just fine stock. Good bikes.

Cool bike, but I think with no more dirt, the Streetfighter will be the weapon of choice (they require tubular bars) at the peak this year, if they ever get a chance to run it!? Actually the Tuono V4R would probably stomp A$$.

Approaching 4 years old, their used price is getting into my price range, an I prefer the low exhaust to the under-tail exhaust of the M696, as much of my riding is my commute to work (sometimes no time anyother time) so I'd like the option of detachable side hard cases to carry what I need for work, and even for some light touring (like down to the Blue Ride Parkway ). I also prefer the look of the round headlight, and full trellis frame compared to the partial trellis frame and funky headlight on the 696.

If I was going to spend money on a Harley, this would be it:

I would probably be the only Harley owner ever to leave a bike completely stock. This one I like as-is.

I went to the dealer today to look at the 72. Brought my wing to trade too. Realized very quickly that a sporty was not going to work out for me, especially the 72.

Ended up suprising myself by buying a leftover '11 Wide Glide. That big motor and transmission combo just sealed it. Gonna pick it up next saturday.

Unlike the poster above, I didn't leave it stock. LED headlight, Pillow seat, solo bag and a detachable taller sissy bar were all ordered to be put on.

I didn't actually go there thinking I would buy a bike. Total shock when we worked out a deal.

I want my bikes, but I need around $30k in tools and parts to make a dream garage.

This morning I went to a fancy car show, passed one of these, pulled up to a Gixxer and we proceeded to get our ass handed to us at the next stoplight...
