62s Power options

Looking to upgrade to the 62s, but see little information on hardwire cords for this unit. Not happy about the mini usb. Looks frail. Liked the old round plug. Where can I find bare wire cords to install on the bike and boat.

True it's not as robust, but it's not bad. Get the 12V kit and cut the cigarette lighter part off. Pain in the ass that you shouldn't have to do, but not terribly difficult.

If thats the only option

Guess I will. BTW, is the screen much brighter on the 62s vs the 60csx?

The 78 still has round plug, same functional unit.

Some mini-usb power cables have a straight plug, some are at 90 degrees. Some use a glass fuse, others use a blade style.

Keep in mind usb power is 5v. Depending how the cable in constructed, simply cutting the cigarette lighter plug off a 12v mini usb power cord could fry the gps. Voltage reduction is often done by hardware inside the plug housing.

I run my 62s off PowerEx rechargeable batteries using a Wizard One charger:

78s

Guess I will look at this one since I already have the round plug hardwired onto the bike and boat. But is the screen on the 78s brighter and better than the 60csx? That was my complaint on the 60.

Big difference between 60/76 & 62/78 is the track memory 200 vs 20 tracks and 500 vs 2,000 points. I am not aware of any big screen difference but could be better.

I bought the 62 hardwire kit from Touratech. Fused and wired to my battery. Comes with weatherproof mini USB plug and has been very solid.
