They had a two tone color scheme a few years back. It was white and a pretty bright green.

I thought the silver/green scram was a good color combo.

To me the soundtrack provided by the Scrambler when ridden is one of the (many) great aspects of the riding experience (TOR's on mine). A Bonnie, even with TOR's, would be a totally different soundtrack, so a totally different riding experience. Vive the difference! Those dealers really ought to have better awareness!! While mentioning the crank... Although it is described as a 270° crank, when I was looking at the cylinder firing order, the crank throws and the camshafts shown in the assembly diagrams and relating what I saw there to what I was hearing and feeling as exhaust pulses at the tails of the exhausts, I figured that the two power pulses are 90° apart and that the valve timings give a little overlap of the two exhaust pulses - Cyl1 Ex still closing as Cyl2 Ex starts to open. Anyone else that's given this some thought - do y'all agree? Disagree? 'Cuz it puzzles me why they call it a 270° crank if the power strokes are 90° apart. Your thoughts please.

Indeed, great math's.
Yeah, Cyl1 0°, Cyl2 270°, Cyl1 360°, Cyl2 630°, Cyl1 720°, Cyl2 990° etc, would sound just like Cyl1 0°, Cyl2 90°, Cyl1 360°, Cyl2 450°, Cyl1 720°, Cyl2 810° etc, wouldn't it. And I did make an assumption as to the direction of crank rotation that may have been bogus. Hmm, maybe I need to check on the tech manual again. Or, alternatively... Note to self - Focus more on fun ridin', less on analysing. ![]()

Wow, my first post on Adv scrambler thread. Just got a '06 Scrambler and loving it.
Boola Boola, you might want to checkout this link: http://www.xs650.com/forum/showthread.php?t=103 The XS650 hotrodders have spent a ton of effort to create 270 motors from the OEM 360 motors. They refer to it as rephasing and it seems to be condsidered the height of XS650 performance mods. We lucky scrambler owners get the 270 ready to go. ![]() Black Cat, not sure if your looking for new or used. Here is dealer with a new 2012: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/mcd/3165402802.html I had been looking for months for a carbed Scrambler, was getting desparate and was considering driving out of state to get one, when low and behold a great deal showed up 15 minutes from where I work in SF. Keep looking something will show up. Checkers screwed with this post 07-28-2012 at 08:12 AM |
