This looks like it might be a good thread to ask a dumb question. I am looking at a 93 K75S with 20K miles on it and the owner says the ABS light flashes all the time. Could this be big bucks to fix ? Also it does not have bags and I am wondering what it might take to get some. Are the bag mounts built in on the K75 like they are on my R bikes or does it take racks also.

Thanks.

Marc

I'm luv'in this thread. I'm riding my first Kbike..75 and love it, having owned 3 previous Beemers, all air heads. From my reading, I'm gathering that the K's were very advanced for their time in many ways....and that the engines weren't built for max. output, but for longevity. Am I right on this? I'm aware of numerous Ks that have well over 200,000 miles and the engine hasn't been touched, other than regular maintenance.

What I know from first hand experience: My bike, an '88 with 56,000 miles, the last 8,000 put on by me, is very nimble, will travel at rather high speeds (90+mph) for extended periods without a whimper, will attain 118mph in a one mile strip and seems to like (love) rpm's above 4500. Having said all that (and what more could one ask?) I normally use it as a commuter bike, although my wife and I (she rides a Kawi Versys) have some fun trips planned when the damn filthy hot weather here in Phx. lets up.

All you need to know about ABS faults(clicky here)

As for bags, look on Max BMW or Bob's BMW site. There's racks that go with the bags and it's all still available. .

My son now has the bike and he lives near Mt. Airy; so you are likely to see the bike on the BRP quite a bit.

My bike has the S fairing. I'm wondering if anyone has had problems with wind noise? I wear a modular Nolan helmet. But I get a whistling noise in my helmet. Has anyone tried the laminar lip as a remedy? Suggestions?

Today is my Birthday

Really it is, so I bought myself a present....

Sorry for the phone picture, but that was all I had on me at the time. The guy with the bike is Nate, from Colorado, who is over in the UK at this time. He usualy hangs out at Britbike, but he also owns a K-bike.

The bike is a 91 K100-RS, my first K series.

As you may have seen in the Eurojumble post, I bought a new bike while there, well it was delivered today, so my first chance to really get to see what I bought, and as you can see it is a stunner.
Sure there a couple of small items that will need sorting, Rear indicators, weeping master cylinder, being the most urgent at this time, it also smokes quite badly when it starts, but that soon dissapears when warm, I have heard this is quite common though, although I am not sure to what extent.
I intend to to get it booked into the garage though, and get them to give it the once over, just to be sure all is well. They can also fit a new seal set to the master cylinder while it is there.

Also there was a surprise in the storage area, Tool kit, new disk lock, new cable lock, and the service pack.
