You really want us to throw beer in through your window?

Be easier if we handed you a glass full. Just sayin'

Monday Mishap

I got called back from a wait stop because Dave had a mishap and thought his arm was broken. When I got there there was no doubt that Dave was suffering. I told him we would splint up his arm and once it was immobilized we would load him onto the back of Hipster's bike and take him to the nearby hospital in Park Falls. I added that while that was going on we would shuttle his bike and belongings to the police department in Park Falls and that we would get John Ford or Cory Clark to pick up he and his bike later in the day. No worries right?

With a plan in place everyone jumped in and started making it all happen. People were producing potential splint supplies and helping out any way they could. Dave was helping out as well, even though he was suffering some pretty severe pain.

I don't want to sound cold here Dave, but this was a lot like making a field expedient trailside repair to the bike - only perhaps gentler.

This was pretty much a mechanical matter of immobilizing things to prevent some additional pain and to keep from doing more damage. (Actually there are a few more things to be mindful of while this is going on but you get the idea . . .)

It seemed like the sooner we could get you safely to the hospital the better off you would be. It was pretty clear your were suffering.

Now we just needed to keep this in place lying against your body.

These guys wanted to make you as comfortable as they could.

Time to get you up on your feet.

We needed to adjust the tie downs to keep everything properly in place.

A few adjustments based on your input and we were off for a very gentle ride to the hospital.

Once there we turned you over to the ER nurse who told us we could wait. We said "Nah, we got somebody coming to get him in a bit" and we headed out the door. You know, "continue the mission" and all that. In the mean time the rest of the crew got your stuff to the local police and arranged for some folks to collect you and your gear and get you back to the rally site.

Just another day at the rally . . .

With Dave squared away, we were back on the trail.

A nice dinner overlooking the lake.

One of several new friends we had some fun with in Babefield. Nice folks.
