Looks and sounds like he was on the throttle, not the brakes.
Just needed more throttle, and more countersteer... Flattrack style!! Get that tire spinnin and driving you through the corner, you'll be fine!

![]() It's my job to keep my focus on the road. I could understand blaming them it these guys were standing on the side of the road with strobe lights and air horns, but they're not, are they? If a crowd of motorcycles, riders, and photographers is too much for my "focus" to overcome, I should either slow down a bit, or take up stamp collecting instead.

That's what I thought too. Went back and looked and his brake light goes on right before he biffs. Maybe he pulled in the clutch and the engine rev'd a little.
Either way he's a doofus. That poor bike.

Cool, rnickeymouse is in the house! I love your channel!
The real problem with that particular turn is that riders come in hotter than they should and grab too much front brake, do something dumb like a mis-shift, have poor technique or pick a bad line. If they don't crash going in, they grab too much throttle on the exit and highside. Shit like that happens in twisties all over the place, but it's not recorded for my entertainment. You wanna get a nice picture to impress your friends? Hit that corner slow and smooth and nobody will know you weren't hauling ass. |

Doesn't look like he's anywhere near the rear brake. Also the rear wheel starts hopping really bad at the same time it's coming around.

My last word on distractions:
YOU, in your infinite awesomeness, would not be distracted by dozens of cameramen. THEY, in their infinite suckitude, ARE distracted by dozens of cameramen. PROBLEM: you are both sharing the same road. And you know it. Which means that if I'm going through those corners, enjoying my lovely Southern California day, totally prepared to pass by all those silly cameras and oddly parked bikes and cars waving as I go by... I'm still utterly terrified by the prospect that some OTHER schmuck is totally distracted by all that jazz and is wiping out into my lane as I turn the corner. Thus, I get tense. When I get too tense, I ride worse. When I ride worse, my chances of doing something stupid increase. Don't do something stupid (get DirectTV! ).Bottom line: the street is not the track. Doing track-like things on the street-- and having track-like accoutrements on the street, like goof-off corners photographed for sado-masochistic entertainment-- isn't as much fun as the keyboard riders like to imagine that it is. |

When you get frustrated at your cable provider you decide to go ride your motorcycle to clear your mind.
When you ride your motorcycle you like to head to the curvy roads. When you head to the curvy roads near a big city you end up sharing the road with a bunch of numbnuts. Don't share the road with a bunch of numbnuts, get DirectTV. |

Vulture returns
I mentioned an incident last weekend. There was a crash: http://www.flickr.com/photos/capfacs...57630945051948 , but that is not the incident I was referring to. There was a mildly disturbing threat made against me by a fellow who lives near The Snake. I have witnessed, actually seen, this moron swerve across the double yellow to try and hit a Monster that was passing him. Some of the language directed my way and towards RNickey in this thread was of particular interest given the threat, as I only suspect who is behind it and just wanted to see if perhaps he was lurking here.
In my own defense, there are some on this board who hate me less than most: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=809967 As for the poster in this thread who postulated that no one was standing in the corner with strobes.... I don't do what I do because I get off on mayhem. Crash photos don't sell. After all, who wants to remember crash? " Hey beautiful, wanna' go for a ride? This is me crashing on The Snake...." I do this because I am 54 years old, and realize that the spark of youth and associated exploits are fleeting. If you don't have a photo or video, it all becomes just fuzzy memories. |

No hate here... stupid people do stupid things, why not catch it on film?
You won't find me blaming a photographer unless they run out in the the road and throw rocks at me.
