Plan is to get as far as Burney, CA, on Wednesday. That's just north of Lassen NP. Head up through Napa, past Clearlake, east towards Chico, then into the mountains.
There is hotel and camping options in Burney.

Second day we'd head into OR, and hopefully find some good dirt roads to ride on our way to Bend.

Return trip is open, I'll probably leave in time to get to Yreaka, then finish the trip on Monday.

If you're interested, let me know, and I'll put a mailing list together.

Probably not.

Man, I coulda used a winch yesterday, pre-riding the Southern end of our Cascades Route.
I was riding on a trail of what was left over from a 150+yo wagon road ....a section that I WON'T lead any of you on....

It took me 3+ hours to get outta what took me 20 minutes to get into.
Dog, I love that EXP autoclutch; but I'm betting my hot clutch plates hate me now....

Really? Im head north almost a week befor the really starting in the bay area going to be camping along the way any chance of getting some of the tracks???

For you Bay area/NorCal guys looking for a route up to Bend, check out the Pacific Crest Quest. I have ridden this from Yosemite to the Oregon border and it is a good, big bike friendly ride. Lots of dirt North of Truckee. Good 950 roads with some pavement that is mostly paved forest service type stuff.

Last time we rode it, we went from Truckee to well above Lassen NP in one day (you have to slab on Hwy 89 through Lassen). We will do that again this time, stopping at Medicine Lake to camp and then heading on to Bend the next day.

From I-80/Truckee on up to Oregon is days 7,8,9 of the Quest.

I am thinking that we will be going up this way on Wed./Thurs. to arrive in Bend on Thurs. evening.

Brents347 - The PCQ route from Truckee north sounds pretty amazing from the ride report you linked in. It seemed to take them 4 days to get to Bend. Do you know ways around the trouble sections and dead ends they ran into?
