Got back last night from our trip. We went from Southern Vt into Mass, and rode around Mass for a while before heading back to VT through New Hampshire. A lot of hills. No decent pics as usual. 3 days, 249 miles, with 13,531 ft. of climbing. We rode the last 25 miles yesterday through a freakin' Monsoon! Thunder, lightning. The whole nine yds! That was pretty crazy. A couple of flats. Overall, a great time.

Scheduled: 4hrs with 2 x 20min over/unders (2min zone 5/2min zone 4/repeat)

Actually ridden: 1:13 easy. Between going to bed late, having the dog freak out during a t-storm at 0200, and getting up early, just didn't have legs today.

I'll do the remaining 2:45 and efforts tomorrow.

Next week: rest week

Saturday ride done - PMBC

Another Saturday, another ride with the Phoenix Metro Bicycle Club. 43 miles, little bit of climbing at around 1,000 ft. My powermeter says I briefly touched 695 watts and goldencheetah indicates xpower of 148 watts. I didn't try to blow by everyone as in the past - this was a fairly complicated route and twice, while ahead, I missed turns and had to backtrack. I held back until the last few miles and me and another guy pretty much dropped the rest.

Last week there were 90+ riders. I think the heat, which was near 100 towards the end of the ride, kept the count below 60.

woke up this morning with time to kill .... and a rocket in my ass

went to my ride with my fuji roubaix with a "make it hurt for an hour plan" and swam into the pain head first. i havent done that since 2009. next time i wll leave at 0700 instead ... the group riders hogging the path got testy and gave chase after i wedged myself between them in order to pass them. about 30 of them ... someone yelled something at me but i could not hear because my headphones. the largest of them kinda blocked me and i rocketed forward. a couple minutes later the whole gang of middle age bandits was in clear pursuit. i took the east diversion path to washington street and so did they crested over the bridge crossing i40 and looked again and 4 or 5 were chasing hard; but lost sight of the rest. then a big rolling hill comes and made my legs scream down and up. looked back and those few were on the drops coming down the hill. i turned west on indian school and bombed down towards old town ... all the way to the staarbux on central and i 40.

it was just like any other motorcycle ride and coming into a pack of slow rolling middle age harley riders.

100 mile race tomorrow, as stated earlier.

In prep I'm heading to my neighbours for a barbecue with wine and beer.

I'm super smart.

Today's ride will go into the "Sometimes I Do Stupid Shit" file.

The first half was great, I felt good and was riding well. Took in some epic views and played a little hillbilly bowling at the top of the climb. We stopped for lunch in Lewiston and then started the climb out. That's when I blow'd up real good...several times. A few of us went into survival mode and did a little hike-a-bike from shady spot to shady spot. The Garmin indicated 110º. Everyone managed to make it without losing their lunch or passing out. So...win-win, I guess.

Uhm, I call winner of the "sometimes I do stupid shit" award for TODAY. See my blog for a report on my Leadville Trail 100 MTB race. Short version, I got the silver buckle and just under 12 hours in my first try. Now I'm real f'n tired.
