I had one of those. I put it on after my battery failed. It always showed me having issues, too high or too low. Didn't trust it.....

Then I replaced my R/R.

I was cleaning out the parts bin and started thinking about reinstalling it. Thought I would test it out first and it didn't work correctly. I think that my faulty R/R fried it causing it to read incorrectly. I'll be getting another.....

I like the concept and cost of the diy unit above but mounting would be an issue. With the signal dynamics unit you can put the brains under the seat and the light in your dash.

Hmm. My experience has only been good.
I've had these is two different bikes. One has been in since 2008 and works perfectly. Before I start it up in the morning it will be amber and stay there for a few seconds after a start; then it turns green.

Installed mine after a bad R/R killed a battery and nearly ruined a vacation trip. Every now and again a glance tells me everything is working correctly.

You need the Big three. Air, Fuel & Spark

Check that you are first getting fuel at the fuel injector. Your hose might have come off inside the tank or something simple like that.

If you are getting fuel.

Next, see if you are getting a spark by pulling the spark plug and turning it over.

If both of those are good it becomes harder.
Bingo on the hose inside the tank. Sorted now and so far so good. Bike is running as it should. Thanks to all for the suggestions and this thread for the ideas and documentation.

Awesome to hear you got it fixed.

The fuel hose is a tough one....

When mine did it, the hose was only partially off. So, upon start up the pump would pressurize line/injector and the bike would start just fine. Then die soon after. Never with the same duration though.

I could even take the injector out and turn it over. Fuel would spray out perfectly....

For those who haven't seen the Ride Report.

If there are any 690 owners over there (Dublin, Ireland) please keep an eye out. (I really mean: :sh oot:p ain) I think that is enough.

Got my BPD chain guide guard installed. Took about 10 minutes, I didn't even bother to take off the rear wheel like they recommend in the instructions.

My wife and I worked in the ME for about 12 years, most of it in Saudi Arabia. Also worked in Muscat with NBO as part of a clean-up team. Small world it is!

I just do cruiser boards-no tricks or anything. Been doing it for a year with no issues. Was land paddling to work using a "paddle" with a rubber bumper on the end to push with. Got a little to complacent/careless and got the rubber bumper into the wheels and took a tumble wherein I sprained the crap out of my ankle. Walked around on it for 4-5 days and finally went to a sports medicne clinic. Broken fibula. Not giving up skateboard because in truth I have rolled and sprained my ankle much more often just running! Cast off in <2 weeks!

PS.. I hope you get your bike back and they castrate the thief!!!!!
