In. You are doing something I would like to do on my Alaska trip- see northern california, oregon, and washington. I have lived in Cali for about 10 years of my life, but all of them in the southern half. Definitely great on the photography side as well.
How did that tamron 90mm macro turn out for you? Im considering that, a tokina 105mm macro, or a sigma 150mm macro. I havent decided as they all have their pluses and minuses. Post 28, black and white pic (2nd picture down). How? Im assuming the vignetting is post, but I dont get how you keep the center sharp while giving the rest an "in motion" appearance. I would assume you would drop the shutter speed, but I would think it would come out differently... Dont want to expose your secrets, so answer if willing Bring me more of my fix! |

Great RR and photos so far! Can't wait to see the trip progress. Alaska is my current dream trip on my bike. It'll probably be a few years, but I'll eventually make it to Prudhoe Bay!
Wow. Spectacular photo! Not that the other ones weren't also spectacular, but this one just speaks to me. |

We ride over the big bridge from Astoria, Oregon into Washington.
![]() ..........![]() We don't have bridges like this in Arizona. ![]() It's so damp and green here! ![]() ![]() |

Olympic
It's our first time out onto the Olympic Peninsula.
I had hoped to see the Hoh Rainforest, but there was just no time. Hey! Now I have a reason to return, someday. ![]() There was lot's of bear food along the road, but we didn't see one bear in Washington. ![]() ![]() ![]() We stopped for photos at the last beaches before heading inland. ![]() ![]() |

Action!
So here we are in live action!
This is mostly video shot up to this point in the story. See why I love The Western Divide Highway? Everyone (That includes YOU) MUST watch the video before I continue... I'm just kidding. (Sort of) |

Wow, these shots are really breathtaking! I just did the same route (in a car
) with my wife and kids last month. It really is an incredible route. Thanks for sharing not only your trip, but your great photography skills with us.

Twilight
I actually discussed cutting out the Olympic Peninsula to save time since we were so far behind schedule.
Helen wouldn't hear of it. Something to do with a vampire movie series. Spooky! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Lake Crescent ![]() ![]() ![]() We were a little wet as we rolled into Port Angeles at Twilight. ![]() |

Day 6
Uh oh! It's gonna be another late start as I try to sort out mechanical gremlins. I'm a KTM owner, so I'm used to it.
Maybe I'll discuss the bike problems later.... ![]() Anyway, It was about 10:30 Arizona time before we get rolling. ![]() We head up Hurricane Ridge, which ended up being one of the best rides of the trip. ![]() ![]() It was chilly at the top. ![]() Port Angeles and the Strait of Juan de Fuca can be spotted through a hole in the sky. That's Canada across the water. ![]() In every direction are mountains. ![]() ![]() ![]() I didn't shoot any photos on the ride down, but the helmet camera was rolling...
