Importing Waypoint From Basecamp to Zumo 550
I decided to upgrade my 2009 map to the 2012 version and unbeknownst to me, Mapsource doesn't work with it!!!!!
![]() My wife and I are going on a trip at the end of the month and I'm trying to figure out how I can make a waypoint file. I remember in Mapsource that I could have separate waypoint file from the actual routes. I'd like to do that on this trip but I cannot figure out how to do it. I did download the POI installer but I can't quite figure it out. I did use the search function but didn't find what I was looking for so I'm hoping you folks could have the answer.Any help would be greatly appreciated. -Chris

Did you install BaseCamp?
Did you create Waypoints in BaseCamp? Did you create Routes in BaseCamp - if needed? Did you connect your zumo 550 to the computer and allow BaseCamp to recognize it? Did you select the Waypoints and Routes and "Send to Device"? Cheers,

![]() I didn't realize that I had to hold down CTRL and individually select waypoints!! ![]() So I guess in the future I should click them all first and then send them over? Is there another/simpler way or no? Thanks for the help -Chris

MapSource should work just fine with the 2012 maps. I'm using them every day on a XP install in Fusion on a Mac. You do need the latest service pack, 3 IIRC.

I have Windows 7 and according to the Garmin rep I spoke with on the phone awhile back, it won't work with Mapsource sadly.

I have Windows 7 on two computers with 2012 CN maps. Both work well with my Zumo 550 and Mapsource.
One of these days I will spend some bandwidth and take on Basecamp. Most likely will wait for the 4.0 version first, but no hurry since MS working great. |

There are two ways to transfer a list and its contents. One is to use ‘Send To’. The other is ‘Export’. Using ‘Export’ the entire list contents will be written to a single file with a *.gpx file extension, (i.e ListName.gpx), You can place its location within the ‘Garmin/GPX’ directory in either the gps’s internal memory or the SDcard. POI Loader allows you to build a POI data set of waypoints. POI Loader Video daryl dlh62c screwed with this post 08-21-2012 at 03:52 AM |

Thanks for the video link, I'll check that out.
As for using MS & updated maps on Windows 7, how did you get that to work? Garmin told me it only works with Basecamp after I upgraded to 2012.4 version.
