Does the cam adjuster add anything in performance and is it an easy install?

Took a little video. Don't know if it anyone can hear the noise. It's just a light ticking. I removed the tensioner and made sure it wasn't gummed up or anything. Made sure it went all the way out. Then reset it and put it back in. It only clicked about twice before it stopped. So it wouldn't appear the chain is wore or anything. Maybe checking the valves wouldn't hurt. At least would rule that out. Anyone have specs for an 09. My kawi manual hasn't come in yet. I would just buy a tensioner at this point if I hadn't just dropped over 500 on my klr to get it back in good running condition. So the tensioner will have to wait at least another pay period.

I can't play the video at work to listen... but can you hear it at idle? If so, get a long screwdriver and use it like a stethoscope and see if you can pinpoint where the sound is coming from. If it's coming from the head area, then it might be the valves.

Does it go away with slight RPM increase? Is there a centrifical decomp on the cams? Those can tick a bit, might need an idle adjustment?

Well I tried several ways. Video just won't work... Damn photobucket.
I can hear it at idle. With slight rpm increase it goes away. But approaching 6k comes back again.

video works for me. I don't hear the classic "rocks shaking in a coffee can" sound like mine did, but it's hard to tell on my cheapo laptop speaker. Around 6K rpm is the right range though for a CCT issue.

Oh I see. It just doesn't have a pic preview. Just the "?" thing. But if you click on it it will still take you to the vid.

Yes, fair method of diagnosis, but keep it "temporary" as Lutz suggests. Krieger gives a very good explanation of why this method puts too much tension on the cam chain and can be damaging.

Does anybody know for sure if the IMS fuel tank for the KLX300 will fit on an '06 250? I see a lot of conflicting info on the web.

Well, I think the conflicting info centers more on the KLX300 tanks fitting the '09 and later models. I have the '06 KLX250S with the KLX300 Acerbis 3.7 gal. tank. Fits perfectly. The '06 and '07 250S are the same bike. I think the major differences came with the '09.

SW Motech skidplate for 250S?
I had another member offer to sell a SW Motech skid but can't find a lot of info anywhere. No one seems to recognize it at the Kawasaki forums.
Does anyone have pics of this plate on the bike? I see the pics at Twisted Throttle (not installed on a bike) and it has an odd angular look with a lot of cutouts. Might look great on the bike though. Good/bad feedback from real users?
