What's your opinion on redot style optics?

I find some of them interesting, but I can see how the housings might constrict your field of view.
I've had limited experience with red-dots, but think they can be useful. I think, as with most scopes, you tend to get what you pay for. I like the smaller red-dots better than the scope style ones, think they give a better field of view. I'm thinking of stuff like the C-More STS and that style of sight on handguns or shotguns, and something like the Eotechs on a rifle. There are a bajillion options out there, but the little holo sights seem more the way to go if you ask me. The price range is equally vast, from less than $50 to multiple hundreds. I put the Bushnell thing on the 15-22 because I got a good deal on it and it seemed like a decent sight. It looks like a ACOG, but has no magnification, just a simple 1x viewing port with a dot. Not a bad sight, but there are better ones out there.

You missed the part where I mentioned that I'm using the VLTOR hand guards. It mounts to the upper receiver and raises the mount half an inch.

Not when you mount the BUIS to the top rail, right?

StrikeFire mentioned above incapable of consistent results

Comes down to Aimpont PRO and Eotech, but I tend to over accurize my speed shots and double taps at closer range with the dot vs the donut thingy.

So I'm wanting an EXPS2.0
I have a BSA sweet 22 on my small bore silhoutte rifle and while I only used it for one match it held pretty darn good. I think with BSA you get a good one or you get a crap one. But where else can you find a scope of that power for that kind of money. It is nice and clear and I am pretty happy....it did make the rifle too darn heavy now tho.

I also have a Millet scope that is along the same lines as the BSA scope....a little more money and I really bought it because I wanted to try something different. Same type of gun same type of shooting, not sure if I like it any better or not.

One problem I do kinda remember having is one of the scopes had a metric tube (i think) and I do remember one of the rifles has an 11mm dove tail...I know I had trouble finding rings that would do what I wanted to do.

Sweet 22 and 17 do hold up well on 22/17 target rifles off a bench.

Im referring to the $30 BSA 30mm red dot. Similar to the Barska. They're ok on a 10/22 for plinking.

I really hoped the Vortex Strike Fire would be "THE" budget optic for me. But losing the dot every drill that involves transitioning to the sidearm don't fly.

If Aimpont was selling the Micro T-1 at the <$300 price point I'd have one in a second

help me pick first pump shotgun!

the list came down to TWO:

Mossberg 590A1 (20" barrel 8+1)

Bonelli Super Nova (24" barrel 4+1)

I'm not looking a HD gun, just a fun all around (including HD:)). Already have a 12ga slugger for hunting and medium/long range.

IYO which/why?

thanks in advance.

Check out the Ithaca Model 37.

It's about as light a 12ga pump you'll find. You can get HD & slug barrels too After I got mine I started hitting everything. It just fits me I guess. I went to a skeet shoot being run by a local gun club as a fund raiser. I broke 20 of 25 and all the guys there with their expensive O/U doubles (think Chas Daley) wanted to know what I was shooting.

I have ahd a bunch and the best one save for the [problem with the brightness in broad daylight was the cheapest which was an NC Star....oon an AR the thing rocked unless it was Noon and the target wad white.....had it been a green dot at the time, it would have been perfect

This. And you get a gun that is all steel, at no weight penalty.

A mag extension on the mossberg means you have to get a new barrel.
