Zumo 550 earbuds "quick disconnect"?

I have Etymotics that I would like to use on my new-to-me Zumo 550.

Is there such a thing as a foot-long "extension cord" that feeds into the Zumo itself, and allows for a quick disconnect to my earbuds? (It's kinda a nuisance to have to feed the right-angle earbuds into the Zumo each time.)

Any audio/electronics store should have a standard 1/8" plug extension cord. Just make sure you get one that's male on one end and female on the other and you're golden.

I'd like to maintain the waterproof integrity of the unit as much as possible. Is is wise (or stupid) to put a dab of silicone caulk on the tip before I insert it into the Zumo?

Is there another way?

Maybe dialectric grease. No silicone caulk, please.
