I am with you on that! I would like to see more effort on the part of manufactures to integrate storage compartments into different bikes. I bet it could be done well if some thought were put into it. The NC700X comes to mind as a step in that direction. The fact that bolt on warts never seem to utilize space as efficiently as possible bugs me .

The stylish trend toward minimizing rear subframes and seats in the interest of weight reduction has left few options for mounting points. If you are lucky, you have a grab handle mount in addition to the passenger pegs.

Here's the worst pic I have of the setup on a Ninja 650R.

That would drive me absolutely nuts. I'd be stopping every five minutes to check if my guitar was still there.

That's the difference between me and a guy who plays guitar, "Just strap it on and hit the road, it will be all right."

LOL

I'm looking at the link, it looks like there are holes drilled through the case anyway, the only advantage is the easy removal?

I think I can make those mounts in my shop for alot less than $60.00 (DAM, I think I need a KLR)

I don't have a picture that shows it from the side when it's closed, but a couple of pics show this utility-only box.

It's the bees knees for coldl weather rides with the amount of clothing I can shed as the temperatures rise. These pictures are summer and it's far larger than I need for that time of year.

As an aside, I have liners for the side cases, but right-sized stuff-sacks are far more convenient. The stuff-sacks wedge in there firmly enough that they stay put when opening the side-cases. The liners were OK, but I had to futz with them while closing the cases. The stuff sacks stay out of the way.

But back to top cases: FIRE AWAY!

Looking back through this thread makes me feel ashamed for having a top box on my old KLR.

I was so clueless.

OMG I have the wrong bike! AND the nerdy top box too

When oh when will I learn the right brands and gear that will buy the approval that is so important for having fun riding a motorcycle?
