Not much of a replacement for the SE-R.

Doesn't look like it will replace my SE anytime soon, sadly the market dictates where the manufacturers go.

I like what I'm hearing about this alleged new bike. I'd probably be more excited about it if I hadn't just bought a 990 and have a 19/17 wheelset. I'll definitely check it out with a good ride when it becomes available.

Sometimes manufacturers can dictate the market (i.e., Apple now, other companies in the past) for a while. KTM took a gamble with all their big bikes: some didn't pan out as they wanted; but enough did to make all of them viable purchases for the long term. Kudos to them for trying, and hopefully the new bikes will be successful enough for them to risk continued outside the box thinking and gobsmack us once again.

An yes, it's no replacement for the SE-R. It's a replacement for Multistradas, Superteneres, Explorers and 1200GS's, or at least this is what KTM marketing hopes.... ;-)

Sadly its just another pig - ripped the heart and soul out of the 990. I'm sure its what all the overweight 50+ year olds with cash, a ewan dvd, and a upcoming heart attack are looking for.

My old 1000 DS Multi was the benchmark of ugly. It was also without a doubt one of the best bikes I've ever owned.

I would say however, at 230kg wet, it could use a bit of lipo..

i learned a loong time ago to not say opinion on a bike till i drive it.
I had to eat my words one time because i said i didn't like the 950 (black) and 5 years later i own one and no other bike comes close to this one IMHO.

The irony in all is that i think the black one is the best one and the one i got is orange.

I'm a bike mechanic, and i gotta say that i thought the gadgets the BMW has are kinda cool sometimes.

but o well, here is a KTM that does display fuel level, has a last generation abs, electronic suspension but we are all saying we don't like it.

BTW: i don't know how KTM does it, but i swear that to me ( a 5"11 150 pound lightweight) this bike NEVER feels that heavy

I don't care if looks ugly. I just want to know where or how to bolt on a set of crash bars and a skid plate.... it looks like the kickstand is still bolted to the motor?
