The "squirt", would be coming out of their ass the first time they wicked it up with any dirt under the tires!

Yes and no.

I am not convinced so many would like to squirt it on a mile dirt oval, once they sat on it and noticed the omission near the throttle grip.

Me and a mate might be riding there on our 990's to see what the bikes look like for real and sus out the competition. Though I'm not looking forward to crossing the Alps in November

The new one will have to be good to make me want to part-ex my R, I know the jury is still out, but maybe with a decent Akro, engine bars, bash plate, pivot pegs etc it will be ok? Though I agree that KTM seem to be following the Triumph Explorer, GS, Ducati Multistrada, Super Ten herd with big power and gadgets - maybe the R version will retain its dirt bias and history back to the Dakar - or maybe they just want to sell more bikes..............

If we make it to the show, I'll post a report and some pics.
Looking forward to your RR, good luck and tell us asp whats going on???? If you cross the Alps in November we will change your name to HannibalD

It's a motorcycle. It's not a car. It's not even a cheap imitation of a car. It's not supposed to be. Yes it has warts, yes the Austrians know it has warts. If you want to do 800 mile days in the saddle wrong bike. You want to do 110 miles in 9 hours in the dirt, reach your destination and ride home ( or camp, your call) on the freeway at 80mph with all your gear in 2 hours, right bike
I'll take it as is, "twitchy" throttle and all. It is great at what it does. Better than it's serious competitors for less money by a LONG shot. Our list of upgrades is a damn sight smaller than our BMW, Triumph and Yamaha brethren.
As for the seat? The Austrian sales rep said it best, STAND UP! ( Warning: disconnect your i pod, i phone, blender, latte machine, prior to standing)
Now if the seat wasn't so close to the footpegs................
My two cents.
Loved this comment.

To me it looks like a great bike for 95% paved and 5% dirt to get to your campsite... It's a big touring bike. A bunch of you guys are ragging on the bike for being too big and heavy but I don't think it's meant to replace the 990 at all, it's for the guys who want all the doohickey's that the Multistrada and BMWs have on a big ole touring bike.

I'm pretty new to KTM, picked up my 990 6 months ago and I don't have much dirt experience so this thing feels plenty big to me (and I've owned a Road King), I can't imagine trying to throw around that 1190 around in some dirt nor do I think they expect people to ride it that way. I mean hell, it doesn't even have a skid plate. Some of you guys can do some really impressive stuff with the 950/990's off-road I'm not there yet, but it definitely looks like the 1190 is meant to be loaded up and traveled on the slab.

I like that they are stepping up into the electronic suspension game, but to me it sounds like more shit to break :) I don't mind taking 10 minutes and setting my suspension before a trip.

I'm confused...

Look at the width of the plastic to the left of the right of the headlight in this photo

...and now the bike in this photo

... on the second photo it looks like they're testing some anti-buffeting tabs

Different turn signals too...

Firt pic is "new", while I'm pretty sure I've seen the last pic a couple of months ago, so it should be a pre-pre-pre production model

I like it. I have a 950 and I don't want to get rid of it or replace it. I do want a touring/commuter and I would like to stick with KTM. I am kinda excited about it.
