CRF230L vs CRF250L mpg??
Ok I have a cousin who is coming off a 1991 Ninja 250 and is in the market for a dual sport now. Most of his riding will be done in Miami FL. Theres a lot of stop and go traffic out that way and the thing he is concerned about most is getting a bike with good fuel economy. He has talked about getting a CRF230L preferably brand new from Honda because he is reading stuff online about how they get some 80mpg. I'm having trouble finding a credible website or post that gives the fuel economy for the 250L. I think that he would enjoy the 250L more. its cheaper from the dealer by about 500$ and he would enjoy that bike more, and its more offroad oriented as well. Those of you with 250Ls, what kinda mpg ratings do you get?? Whats your opinion on this? every way I look at it the 250L is a better bike / buy. but I'm having trouble convincing him. unless somebody also thinks I'm wrong. post up your thoughts!

FWIW, my 230M, rejetted, gets 75mpg even when flogged mercilessly. And I only paid $2990 in 2011 for my leftover 2009 230M, brand new. The M was a poor seller, but it works for me -- knobbies for the summer backcountry riding, and street tires for the commute during the rest of the year.

Got an 08 230L for sale in Palm Bay, FL. 2,500 miles, excellent condition,
FMF Q4 muffler, smaller LED blinkers, smaller license plate holder, new tires that are more offroad oriented. Have the original tires and all stock items that were removed. $2950 Pictures have the stock tires on. ![]()

Sounds like good mileage, similar to my 230L. I got from 63 MPG when really pushing the 230L on highway to 83 MPG steady on easy dirt road and trail. I am getting very interested in the 250L for the CD next year. Sounding better the more I learn! |
