If I'm still breathing, you better be takin' pics; they're going to last a lot longer than my pain.
So I'm at a go-kart track in Marshalltown, IA helping my buddy out.

I'm taking pics for him while he's out thrashing his YSR.

Last race of the day, and he's out front!!!!!!

Runs wide coming out of the corner, but keeps it up. Only now his tires have mud on them. And he goes down. In the front of the pack.

Horrified, I watch as he gets run over.

He is in the hospital for awhile with a broken sacrum and a big gash in his shoulder.

When he comes to, first thing he asks is if I got any pics of him going down. I said, "Hell no!"

He proceeded to chew me out pretty good.

That'd be a fucking hoot! Even better, what if someone DIES! Wow, a fucking gold mine! We can do the reveal to the grieving family, the sobbing people graveside, there's no end of entertainment value!

Yeah, fine, maybe he couldn't have helped them, but he certainly could have showed a little respect to their pain and suffering.
Either of us? You're gonna need to dial back the meds for a minute. How many fingers am I holding up?

I wish there was someone to snap photos of my accident, I really wish there was this play by play blow by blow that's represented in this harley head on wreck. Sadly, I had to "lay her down" out in the boonies miles away from any corner photogs. I had to take my own photos.

I have no interest in looking at someone's dead gore spread across the road, but these folks came out and posted the photos of their own wreck. Can you believe the entertainment they're getting out of their own pain and suffering?

How could the photog have shown respect to their pain and suffering? Shut the camera off half a second sooner? The main reason these folks are on the Dragon in the first place is because of how popular it is, due in large part to the photographers set up on the road. You head to the "Dragon" chances are you know what you're getting into. Photographers, Lane Crossers, Semi's and all.

Completely agree. That's why I often wear a helmetcam and have it on more than I'm willing to edit.

Not really. Overall health is higher, standards of living are better, Median life expectancy is higher then ever, Education is better.

What it is, is that we are more connected then ever too. So all that horrific stuff that's happening, you know about it immediately. Instead of news from your local area only, everywhere gets an equal say.

Interesting. Crime statistics and poverty rates (US and worldwide) don't jive with that. How would you quantify?

I had a track day get-off, and my first question was "did anyone get pics?!"

Accident reconstruction is a great help when you want to avoid repeating a mistake in the future.

Yep. By painting large arrows and other bullshit all along the road. I've heard tales that these "markers" are quite slick.

Yeah, not a big fan of paint on pavement myself.
