a year ago, I would have said "yeah, i'd buy a new wee for lack of a better option". now things have changed. the right choices now are to go "high and low" - my very shortlist is a Super Ten for 90/10, and a WR250R for everything else. The super ten is just way more capable for "what might happen" when you're riding a too-heavy bike in rough terrain. drop the wee and you have instant trouble 'cause the oil is spilling out and its REALLY topheavy. I had hoped one of these mftrs would get the clue and make a twin adv bike that comes in clearly under 400lbs. not. so if you're going heavy, you may as well go "yes heavy, but WELL capable".

I myself would love an S10 but I have set up my wee to the point that an S10 isn't going to be any better for what I have been doing.

This past summer I sold my YZF600R and DL1000. I got the feeling like I was making a mistake and would be searching for them again in the future.

I love my Uly and have gone back and forth. But now I am keeping it. Going to throw a couple bucks into ceramic coating the exhaust and powder coating teh bag racks and changing the wheel color.
I love the bike and it makes me smile everytime I sweep through a twisting off ramp. May even try and buy some plastics just to change up the color and keep it fresh. Going to hold onto it and maybe do some motor work try to free up some revs. Going to work my ass off for the next couple of years while the wife gets her masters and then hopefully somewhere in there after we pay off her car I can get some big mega cruiser, ala a C1400 or convert a busa/XX into a upright sport tourer.

1972 Suzuki GT380. Sold it, but wish I didn't.
2011 Night Rod Special. Gone. Forgotten. Would not go down that road again. 2012 S10. If it were declared a total loss tomorrow, I would buy another one. Just feels like home.

2007 V-Strom 1000. Definitely not. I've bonded real will with the DL1000 as it has taken me all over CO, to AK, and around Moab. It's a brilliant street bike and tourer but a beast to handle in the dirt. It does take a little upgrading to make it acceptable. A PCIII is definately a must to eliminate the stock mapping studder. Clutch chudder is definitely evident right now with 46k on the odo so that leaves the option to have it machined or purchase a new OEM basket. Stock suspension is not quite there. Usually stiffer springs up front make it marginally better. Lastly, front brakes could use some help. I've been leaning toward the XT1200 ever since it's release. Just waiting for the moment.
2012 FZ8. Probably, if I were in the market for another standard/naked. Actually does well as a tourer; just needs bags. |

2011 Triumph America. My first bike, had it almost two years, and I still am glad I bought it. Trouble-free, dependable, fun, and nice to look at.

I've had a TL 1000 for 12 yrs now and it has been absolutely fun and reliable and is getting worn out and I'm seriously thinking of buying another low mileage one.

2006 Tiger 955i
This is my first real adult bike, had all kinds of dirt bikes as a kid but nothing for the road. Had about 125 cars over the last 20 year's and wad still board.
Bought the tiger and I love it, loads of power, rock solid, easy to work on and lots of fun. If she got totalled I would buy another if only because its a great value. If I had more money I might get that new 1190 R that's coming out. It makes me feel warm and fuzzy. |
