Might do a swap for this lil sweetie but I'll probably need to turn it over.
Wondering what it's worth... Here's the build: http://modernvespa.com/forum/topic29692 Here's the skinny: - P177 motor that can be used with battery or without - Sito Plus exhaust - Seat frame and pillion tray powdercoated matte black - Seat bar powdercoated matte black - floor rails and brake pedal powdercoated matte black - Horn cover powdercoated matte black - Seat covers made by Jay at Pirate Upholstery, black with red logo and stitching - Chrome levers - Chrome wheels - Chrome mirrors - Paint done by California Porsche Restoration in Gulf racing colors The scoot is a second kick scooter when cold, and a first kick scooter when warm. With only 242 kilometers on the rebuild, the break-in period still needs to be completed. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Please, read the post. Not my build, not my bike. Just wondering what's the market. I'd need to sell it if I swap.
I don't intend spending time joining incognito the Downtown Scooter Hipster Association (DSHA), just to push it. My buddy summed it up well I thought: "It's cool like owning a barber chair. Neato and all but it kinda just takes up room"... Yes, excellent job done. plus everything has been addressed by the local scoot shop by owner #2.

A 42 year old custom Vespa is kind of a niche item that appeals to a very narrow buyers market. Even if you bought it for $2000 or $2500 you still may need to get fitted for skinny jeans and ride Downtown for Latte's a while before it sells for more. Don't forget your Ruby Atliers Helmet, Messenger bag, and Corazzo jacket.

I did the rebuild on that scoot, and it is a good scoot. I would say it is probably in the top 5% of all the Sprints I have ever seen.
It's true that classic scooters are a narrow niche, but then so are classic bikes and classic cars. On the other hand the people in that narrow niche tend to be passionate about them. While I won't comment on the value of the scooter because I think it would be inappropriate for me to do so, I can tell you the project cost me more than I sold it for, by quite a bit. But that is not uncommon with projects...if you have done one, you know. I have never thought of classic vehicles as something to "flip," but it sounds like you have experience at flipping, so your guess might be better than most. Good luck whatever you decide to do. |

Hey Len! Glad you showed up.
You did a great job on the Vespa. It's a real creampuff. Jim still has the scooter but is interested very in my Multistrada and wants to trade, but really, where I live, though iZ think scooteres are great, it's just not practical. Heck, I'd have it and several other bikes in the garage if I had any real money. Thus the question. Jim and I are trying to figure a way to move the Vespa so that he can get the Multi. If I lived down in the city and hung at the cafe scene things might be a little different... Anyhow, any input you can give would be well appreciated. Jim talks highly of you.

His best bet is to list it on Modern Vespa in the classifieds, and on Craigslist in the SF Bay area, and Monterey, If he hasn't already. Listing it before the cool weather gets here will likely get a better result. Once it gets colder it seems like people tend to wait for Spring to buy.

We posted it up on Modern Vespa, scooter.net and L.A Craigslist yesterday.
