got a few minutes in the garage to mount the pelican top box. Free up some room under the seat.
Note to self: drill 1 hole then line up drill the next and so on. 4 at once can tend to be slightly off

chilly still in the mornings, took the scoot to work and now thinking on a small wind shield

Has anyone seen this? http://yamahawww.yocracing.com/acces...IdCategory=440

I got the Shad mounting kit and the 33L top box. I don't have a camera at the moment, but it fits and works very well. It does not require the Yamaha rack, the mounting kit fits in place of the rack. I got it from a place called powerpartsplus.com A little cheaper than Yamaha.

Give me a week or 2 and I'll have a review up of the Slipstreamer Spitfire s-06 windscreen. I know it will not funtion as well as the Yamaha oem screen, but will have to look sportier. I just ordered it Monday 1/28 so give me a little time and decent weather. The oem screen is the clear winner in functionality, but the loser in looks

So I have some thermo-set plastic and some duo lock velcro and a scroll saw! KLR-rific shield project coming soon to a screen near you!
I just want something small enough to divert some of the chest wind up and out of the way, the duo lock so I can rip it off when needed, will fit on the instrument cluster bit of plastic.

but looking forward to the review to see how that works.

Slipstreamer spitfire s-06

Well, so much for that. After struggling to find a decent mounting location on the limited space on the zuma bars I given up on getting the spitfire to fit right. The main issue for me was that the arms of the windscreen are not quite long enough and need to be bent at a slightly different angle than they come. I may tackle it again another day. The mock-ups I did with it look so much better than the yamaha screen, but I may just give in and buy the yamaha screen. I'll probably end up with another DR650 someday so I'll just hold onto it.

Here are the pics of my 2012 Zuma 125 with the windshield, 33L Shad top case, and Shad mounting bracket/rack. One neat thing about the Shad rack is that the top is completely flat, and the holes drilled in it line up exactly with the holes in the top case base plate, so you don't have to use any clamps. The base plate came with a snap on cover that hides the mounting screws so it can be used as a luggage rack without the case. You do lose the rear reflectors, as the rack uses those holes for mounting, but I don't care much for reflectors anyway. The rack comes so close to the turn signals it actually touches them. Typical of aftermarket accessories. Overall I'm pretty happy with it, it doubles my storage space. And when I get the highway pegs, I will be able to use the floor for storage too.

Sorry about the quality of the pictures. Combination of a cheap camera and the AZ sun.

Never give up! With about 30 minutes of fab work this morning I made a 7/8 inch "crossbar" for the zuma to give me a nice mounting point for the spitfire. This is all prototype so far with a lot of rough edges and nothing has been snugged down or road tested, but it does look promising. If it works well I will paint the conduit black or spray it with plasti-dip.
I am a serious believer in the yamaha screen, but I do have to give this one a win in the looks department. If I get the factory set-up I may see if I can at least mount the spitfire screen to the oem hardware. Of course that will leave me with 2 open large holes and 6 new ones.

Here are the unfinished teaser pics.

The Spitfire is definitely a nice looking screen, I had one on a Rebel 250. But for the Zuma I just went ahead and got the Yamaha screen. It's ugly, being basically rectangular, but it seems to do a pretty good job. I noticed my GPS speed actually increased a couple mph with it on. I would have expected the opposite.

I did roadtest the spitfire set-up and it worked well, but I have gone on and ordered the yamaha screen because I like to ride with a 1/2 helmet when its not freezing outside and the spitfire mainly protects the torso. I am really hoping I can mount the spitfire on the zuma hardware.
