I tried to yell, wave and take pictures, none came out that well.

This was my 1st trip to the museum, I spent a few hours, well worth the 11 bucks.

Where Best To Catch The Motorcycle Cannonball Action

A number of readers have been contacting the American Iron Magazine offices asking about details on the route for the 2012 Motorcycle Cannonball and where are the best places to see the motorcycles and riders. Even we do not know the specific routes. But we do know a few of the planned stops that might be worth visiting if you are in the area. These are the best locations and dates for you to meet the riders and check out some of the action:
Wednesday Sept 5 – Friday, Sept 7. Newburgh, NY at the Motorcyclepedia Museum and the Hilton Garden Inn. Riders depart starting at 9 am on Friday.
Sunday, Sept 9. Later afternoon and evening at the Harley-Davidson museum in Milwaukee.
Monday, Sept 10. Hosted lunch at Kutter Harley-Davidson in Monroe, WI. Late afternoon and evening at National Motorcycle Museum in Anamosa, IA.
Tuesday, Sept 11. Hosted lunch at Harley-Davidson of Mason City, IA.
Wednesday, Sept 12. Hosted dinner at Pioneer Auto Show in Murdo, SD.
Thursday, Sept 13. Hosted BBQ dinner at Glencoe Campgrounds, Sturgis SD.
Friday, Sept 14. Day off in Sturgis, SD. Bikes in and around town, including on Main St.
Saturday, Sept 15. Hosted lunch at DeLuxe Harley in Gillette, WY.
Sunday, Sept 16. Hosted lunch at Irma Hotel in Cody, WY.
Wednesday, Sept 19. Hosted dinner at Best Western hotel in Burns, OR.
Saturday, Sept 22. Hosted dinner at Michael’s Harley-Davidson in Rohnert Park, CA.
Sunday, Sept 23. Grand finish at Dudley Perkins Harley-Davidson in San Francisco.

It's was fun to be asked to participate by the organizers!

Here's what Ben, our contact with the Cannonball organizers, had to say about September 23rd:

"The bikes will be leaving Rohnert Park the morning of the 23rd and will take the 1 down to the Presido Yacht Club/Fort Baker through Sausalito. They will arrive at PYI between 1050-1120.

The group will depart at 12:30 heading to Dudley Perkins Harley-Davidson via this route. As soon as we exit the toll booth; we will exit onto 25th street to re-group quickly in the dirt parking lot just passed the employee lot and be picked up by 2 SFPD solo escorts to ride out front.

We will arrive at the final staging area (Costco just before Perkins) to allow 1, 2, 3 place (and any other winners) to lead the pack and arrive at Perkins to be announced.

There will be food/drink/music Dudley Perkins Harley Davidson, in South San Francisco, from like 11 - 4ish."

Allycatdad, I've asked if Ben has information on the route from Klamath Falls to the coast, and will post here if he does ...

I got up at five to meet some friends from the Hartford area to be there. Very cool to see all those old bikes starting up and heading out. Museum is reall something else, needs some Eruo bikes though.[IMG][/IMG]

he may have the edge. he's the only one who rode to NY I believe. everyone else trucked/trailered. I'm not knocking them but he's had a good chance to let the bike get settled in.
