The small gas tank looks like a toaster oven. Usually called toaster tanks.

Check the ol' signature.

They were kind of considered ugly back in that time but now it's a pretty sought after cult bike.

My "new" ride, lot's of fun!
Now that the rebuilding of the XJ 750 Seca will take more time than expected, I had to get another ride.
Last monday i bought a '86 Honda CB700SC Nighthawk. 210 euro's as if i'm correct by today's currency 275,- bucks. ![]() One new rear tyre and it ride's like new. Soon the front shocks need new seals and some small electrical problems needs to be fixed. The previous owner placed strange looking headlight. Still thinking what to do with it. ![]() For now, a great ride and a lot of fun. |

A Couple of My $1500 Bikes
Here's my '83 Honda GL 650I. $1,500.00 in basically ride-away condition.
Added the Krausers for some real luggage space. Runs like a top and returns 60 - 65 mpg. ![]() ![]() Yeah, it's an Old Phart's bike but hey.... it suits ME! Here's my '99 BMW R1100RL. $1,038.00 in non-running condition. The stupid prat previous owner had put it away in his garage for 3+ years with half a tank of oxygenated fuel. So far replaced the fuel pump, fuel filter, had fuel injectors cleaned and it's running but needs further maintenance. Gonna be pretty nice once I get the valves adjusted and the throttle bodies synced. ![]() ![]()

Wow! I guess we have some cross-pollination going on between here and The Samba!
![]() Howdy Campism. Yep, that's my '86 Westy in the background. Might explain why no-one sees it much, huh? Seeing as how it lives most of it's life in that barn. I got to do better.... ![]() The $1,038.00 for the R1100 is a result of it being sold by a car stealership. They insisted that they MUST add on their fees and charges so, I offered them $1,500.00 total to include everything. Looking at the Bill-of-Sale, the bike is listed at $1,038.00. And, more importantly, it was listed that way when I went to DMV and had to pay taxes. |

Those of us thoroughly schooled in abuse-by-Vanagon need a relaxing outlet, something harmless, inexpensive and unlikely to threaten a marriage. A hobby like old motorcycles.

I haven't gotten to read this whole post, but I'm down with this concept so Ill post this before reading it all.
Honda vf700s. Bought it in April or around then for $700. It ran but not well. Went through a cycle of reading the manual (which seems to be for every 80's v4) and buying parts and putting the carbs together and trying it out and taking the carbs off and ordering parts and so on. Probably spent $1000 overall with a couple outstanding expenses that I know about. Also, I almost burned this bike, like it was on fire and I was smacking it out with a shop rag. singed some of the wiring but not too bad. ![]()

![]() Fits well with this one ![]() And I have a 750 as well,anyone sense a theme here? |

Super Dave rides again!
![]() Why would anyone put 1k into a bike with 200k and then sell it?
