Unfortunately August is a black hole in Spain: everybody is in holidays.
They promise me it must be ready to try this week and ready to production end of September…. We’ll see…

Well I'm ready to buy a skid plate, but I can't freaking make a decision. This is extremely aggravating.

Has anyone actually caused engine damage with the plates that mount to the large mount on the front of the motor? Has there been damage reported with the Hepco Becker plate?

I will be bottoming out. I will be taking it places it probably shouldn't go. It's going to get used and abused.

I'd bite the bullet and get a Rumbux right now... but whether they are being imported into the USA anymore is now in question. It seems the initial rush is over and now the importer can't muster enough interest to get a shipment together. That's the impression I get at least. I need the crash bars too, so with that in mind, the price of the whole rumbux setup is actually very fair.

Jaxons plate is absolutely fricken nice. Without a doubt the beefiest, most hardcore skid plate available. But you've got to pay to play, and this plate is double the cost of my third in line.

Which leads us to the Hepco plate. The price is fair. The coverage looks good. But they took the cheap/easy way out on the front mount... bastards... and now I would run the risk of tearing a gaping hole in my motor when I go to actually use the plate.

If I don't/can't go Rumbux, I foresee going with the SW Motech crash bars.

In that case I think you must go to Rumbux or Jaxon's.
But next week I'm going to have the new development of ACD skid plate. Fully frame mounted.
This is what I have now, a prototype from ACD. Next week they are going to give me a new development. If it works they are going to start the production this month.

Had my Altrider out for the first time yesterday (what a ride!!!) Had some good bottom hits
and never pulled over to check the sump like I would have with the Yamaha plate.

We were in a fair amount of mud so I thought that was why my sidestand was so hard to put
down later in the day. Turns out the rear mount on the Altrider crushes outward when hit.
The mount then rubbed on the sidestand. I had to kick it to get it down.

If you look close you can see the paint stress on either side of the slot.



A little crow bar attitude adjustment and the sidestand was happy again.

The good news is you can get the factory oil filter off with out moving the bash plate.
The bad news is it creates a quite an oil spill to get it out. That and the drain plug
access holes are tight 12mm swivel socket is is best in front and then the oil
drains into the pan. I made quite the mess between the filter and draining.

Jumping the bike, perhaps?!? I bent the middle of the rear mount on mine, but did not collapse it even though I broke almost all the welds on the skid.

Na, no real jumps. A lot of dips and some rocks. I felt it hit several times. Bent the rear wheel
again too.

Just a point of clarification. Dallera made a comment that made me check the specs on the first page of this thread. Apparently, the Rumbux plate is STEEL, and not Aluminum. Hence, it has a similar weight but half of the thickness of the RideOnAdv plate, at a similar weight. Is this accurate?

If so, can we change the specs page to not say "aluminum thickness" but just "thickness", and then quote Al or Steel? For every plate listed? Most values are 3mm - 4mm, and the assumption is that the material is Al.

The next question is: what is the relative durability and protectivenss of the two materials in these specific thickenesses (3mm steel vs. 6mm Al) for their similar weight?

This is the definitive ACD skid plate, the only change could be the colour, is going to be anodized in titanium colour.
