Thanks, me too!
Great site, BTW. I dig the Buells. Looks like you're a talented roadracer, too. Keep the shiny side up!

F**K it....
.... I've been neglecting this thread for too long. I'm skipping over a lot, but I finally had the first start this Memorial Day.
It was hot as Hades here in Baltimore. I kicked and kicked and dripped all over the thing for about half an hour and nothing. Checked the valve adjustments and points for the zillionth time- everything OK. I was about to kick it over and jump up and down on it, but took a break instead. After 45 minutes cooling down, I went back out, and two prods later: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RNmxH...layer_embedded It's an unedited mess with lots of pocket footage, but it shows she lives! My creation lives! Bwahahaha... She's really loud. My neighbor in the vid heard it start from across the street, in his basement, with the radio blasting. My neighbors are gonna hate me.... I got it out in the hood and rode her around for a half hour or so. Pulls strong, but needs tweaking. It was way to hot out at that point to mess with, so it went in the shed. Carbs out of synch, forks overfilled and leaking, oil pan leaks, centerstand didn't stay retracted (trail of sparks),and spring fell off, shifter dogs need adjusting, etc. I'm pretty happy though. My first complete rebuild!

Update
![]() Today I had the second maiden voyage. This time she's a keeper! A few months ago after a grand total of maybe 5 hours of riding the bike started clattering and it got progressively worse til I decided I had to see what was up. So the motor came back out and I could see the flywheel and front crank gear wobbling. Bent crank! It was most likely bent before I started but being a noob I couldnt tell. Running it made it worse. Anyway, I found a guy with a big lathe who new what he was doing, and he beat it back straight (thanks ScooterBob!). I finally got it all back together and buttoned it up today (took two Saturdays). Runs great, sounds great, and I had so much fun I ran it out of gas and had to push it home!

Glad to be able to help you out- I love the hunting pics you put up with your Ural "Meat Wagon". I'll be taking mine on a back-roads shake-down ride today. If she doesn't come back on the back of a truck I'll consider it a rousing success!
