I've been checking in on this thread since December when I picked up my 1980 Cota 200 to try some vintage competition. I have about 14 acres but it is mostly a field that a local farmer hays so we don't have to mow it. I cut some trees for my father in law the past two weekends and today decided to put the spoils to use... nothing crazy just a little practice area near the house for now...
all of these obstacles are around the perimeter of the same patch of trees so I can enter/exit different ways. ![]() ![]() ![]() Built this balance beam out of the straightest trunk I had... ![]() Darryl the trials cat gives the beam a run... damn he is good!... a natural ![]() At the back of this field there is about an acre of woods... I cut trails through for the enduro bikes and so my wife can get in with the golf cart to harvest the wild blackberries. When I get time and bored with the current set up I'll cut some side trails and drop some trees for some new practice areas. ![]() Monte on the back trails... ![]()

That's my plan... I've had all the MAVT events on my calender this season but other things got in the way.

The road I live on dead-ends into Great Smoky Mountains National Park so it's kinda hilly. I have a singletrack figure-8 cut into the woods behind my house on a hillside that's so steep it's hard to walk up. Once you're up on the 8 it's not bad but the entry and exit are kinda hair-raising.
Apart from that I mostly just ride around the ditch in front of the house and hop in and out of my raised-bed garden (not during growing season, obviously.) One of my friends/neighbors has trials practice field with railroad ties, fallen tree trunks and singletrack to play with. ![]() Oh, and this is my first post in the Trials forum. I have a 1976 TY250 and a 2003 Gas Gas TXT280. Now I just need to learn to ride them.

So glad this thread just got bumped. Recently bought an acre with a wee stream, some bush & plenty of room to build scary obsticules.
Oh, I'd better get me a bike too. I'm watching.... |
