Is "anti-hopping-kupplung" a slipper clutch? And "doppelzundung" .... double-spark (two plugs per cylinder)?

What am I seeing for the swingarm? Composites ? Or is that some kind of chain gaurd?

The rear footpeg bracket looks a little like composite too.

Different exhaust from prototype?

Anyone else notice the change to the collector from the prototype photos? Much more ground clearance now - hopefully not the huge ugly exhaust we saw before.

Very nice...more hp gives the option for more torque which is usable hp that doesn't need high revs.

The 2012 RC8R's engine has 127Nm torque, while the 990's LC8 engine has 100Nm. Because the new 1190ADV's engine is a derated RC8 engine, I guess we won't get that much more torque from it:( 10-15Nm maybe.. that's 10% more than the current 990's torque. Actually I remember reading 113Nm somewhere for the new ADV.

However people have to understand that KTM aims for a free reving engine (lc8, rc8 as well), that's why they minimalise all of the rotating mass inside the engine. So unlike a Harley, you have to rev these engines, that's how they are designed. It's not the < 3-4000 rpm band where these engines are mend to be operated in.

These KTM V2 engines always had and probably will have a characteristic more like an inline-4 than a traditional V-twin IMO - which is okay until one doesn't want to use it like a Harley V2 for example.

Also keep in mind, that the original LC8 engine was designed for mind blowing, 190kph Desert !!!racing!!! (Dakar), and not for 10-20mph trial like riding, also not for 60mph cruising in 6th. It's like using a 17k rpm F1 car and its engine like a normal car, and arguing about it's jerkiness at 60mph in 7th @ 1500rpm..
The RC8's engine was designed for racetrack usage, so I bet it won't be the optimal engine for 10-20mph trial like riding as well.
No matter how you smooth it out by derating the engine, the main characteristics will still remain IMO.

Torque to hp is simple calculation: 1kW = 1,341hp

Torque (N.m) = 9548.8 x Power (kW) / Speed (RPM)
Power (kW) = Torque (N.m) x Speed (RPM) / 9548.8

When KTM produces claimed 150hp @ 10000rpm it means 107Nm of torque at that rpm.
Because max torque is always produced at lower rpm, lets say at 7500rpm, then 127Nm @ 7500rpm means 133hp, which seams pretty logical to me.
But KTM will never be good for lugging at idle like BMW boxers anyway.

Hope they make it easier to work on.
