The gun is very pleasant to shoot, accurate and mild recoil. The report is sharp and more high-pitched than a 38 or 9mm. Ammo for it isn’t inexpensive.

When you add the fact that it was the primary sidearm used in the Galactica series, the cool, evil, black tactical hotness really comes out.

That is because this is how they should look.....anything else is....well lipstick on a pig.

Don't get me wrong I like the AK pattern rifles, but like the AR pattern rifles....they do get pretty stupid looking pretty fast....but whatever rows your boat.

Yours however is just perfect the way it is.

no it doesn't - you need to weigh it down with fragile and useless doodads first .

A TWS cover or an Ultimak gas tube, an Aimpoint Micro, and a flash hider instead of the Soviet brake you have are actually useful though.

I don't own anything "tacticool" but I did get to check out some of the IDF's firearms that would count:



I'll probably be getting an M&P 22 in the near future, that M4 fit amazingly.

My AK is a hybrid of sorts. It is an American made milled steel receiver with old but supposedly unused Russian parts. I cannot recall at the moment the name of the manufacturer of the receiver, will check it and edit this post to provide that info. I bought it at a local shop a couple of years ago. I've never cared much for AKs, always thought they were pretty crude and clunky, but this one just looked right to me, the way an AK ought to look when coupled with a well-dressed terrorist ensemble.

Edit: The AK receiver is American Tactical, made by an outfit called Xtreme Machining out of Pennsylvania. It is called an AT-47 and from what I can determine they are a very well-made milled receiver with a Ukrainian parts kit. I thought Russian, but believe I was mistaken. Supposedly the milled receiver allows for better rigidity and matching of other parts, giving better accuracy. Hoorah, a bench-rest AK!! I've not tried grouping this one, it has purely been a plinker, much enjoyed by teenage boys!

By M&P 22 I assume you mean (not to be overly gun-geek/techie here) the M&P 15-22? They do look a something like an M-4, but are quite a bit lighter in weight, mostly made of plastic and lightweight materials. Lots of fun, though, and a decently accurate .22. Here's a pic of my girlfriend shooting one from a little over a year ago. And yes, I know, she should be wearing eye-protection. She does not always do as she is told.

At some level, most high level ARs are pretty much equivalent and more dependent upon their little upgrades and maintenance. The Daniel Defense rifles are certainly within that range...
