These old engines look so much better than the newer stuff; much more mechanical.

Meeting Doug
Like most old farts, I'm opinionated and have a big mouth. When I stepped up and reached my hand out to meet Doug I forgot to introduce myself, stammered and stuttered like a schoolboy and felt as plastic as the finders on my wannabe bike. I mumbled something about his being the reason I got a passport and invented Spud, after following his RRs-- sputtered out a little small talk... then moved away to snap pics and stalk him into the next state.
I felt intrusive among these men, set to their task, working their passion-- like a silly tourist in trunks and an Hawaiian shirt. The image of Doug dosing his fill-up with with mystery oil from a hotel shampoo bottle was priceless and a memory that won't soon fade. |

This is so cool! Just figured out this was happening.
![]() My OMC club ride this weekend is headed to Big Sur on Sat and Hunter Leggit Military Base accomodations. On the way in, we'll be looking for the riders going to Dudley Perkins in SF from Cotati. Maybe we can catch them. I'll have the helmet cam ready just in case! I Would love to find out if any riders are having talks in the Bay Area before they head out. Please post anything anyone knows. The Oakland Motorcycle Club is in the area and we meet Weds and San Francisco Motorcycle Club has their club meeting on Thurs. Both clubs are old enough to have had riders in the club who rode these bikes when they were new. Come on by and say hi and watch us oodle and drool.

The only "cheap" camping I've found in California had been National parks and that is real cheap if you have a senior pass. Look and see if there is a national forest or park close by. One hangup is just about all national camp grounds are on a first come basis.
