Do it. I can't tell you how fun the little bastard child Harley is. Just grinning like an idiot riding it ...uh......like an idiot. ;)

Has anyone here ever ridden one of the race setup version of the XR1200? I am just interested in how much it wakes it up.:)

I haven't checked the regs but I don't think the race bikes are making that many more HP than a well-tuned streetbike. Lots of fellas dynoing about 95 rwhp. Without displacement, headwork and internals, I am betting that's close to max.

In terms of bling the Euro racer version of the XR are pretty sweet. Termi exhaust, Ohlins shocks and fork internals. Thanks for the info. |

Barry. When set up originally my bike made about 87 (87.6 and 76.8) with just a D&D and a Screaming Eagle Pro tuner. Some of the folks on the XR board with much greater access to a dyno and bigger wallets are tuning up to 95. I am sure the race bikes are doing better than me.
The Termi pipes look great but in exhaust shoot outs they are making good tq but not great HP. I am gonna take mine in soon as I just added a K&N and I am not sure I moved forward. Or even in the right direction. May be time to do an airbox mod. Or fix my exhaust. Or both. lol

Oh, yeah. And for us beer budget guys, standing it on its head works wonders for turn-in.

How does the XR compare to a new Triumph Bonneville? Obviously, the torque is much better on the Harley, but the Bonneville oozes style and can easily be hopped up handling wise. I'm wondering about general comfort, fun factor and reliability. I have been wanting a Bonneville forever, but every time I stare at the XR -- especially the 1200x, with the blacked-out motor -- I feel a little flutter!

Have there been recent changes in the base Bonneville? I haven't been keeping up.

Anybody know where I can get replacement factory luggage bags? My zippers on both bags are shot and now won't close. Have any of you had them repaired?
BTW, I just passed 30,000 miles on my baby last night :) |

09 and up Bonnie changes are EFI, and 17" front/rear mag wheels on the standard and SE models. (T100 still has spokes) I wont get into the pros/cons on a pro XR thread (I've been on adv long enough to know better) but I will say the 09 XR I rode was 10,999 with 7000 miles and a brand new Bonnie was 8000. Though I know you can find better XR deals through private sales, I needed a dealer for financing aid. I got a 2012 Bonnie Black and I'm very happy with it.
