Hi all, I am looking for a SV650 for a good price.
And I found one that is a 2007 with 10k miles, with ABS. It looks good from what I can tell, he says it needs nothing. He is asking $4,000. It has a sargent seat, and rear cowl, and exhaust, other than that is stock. How is that price? I can't really find any ABS ones to compare it to. Also, he has a leo vince exhaust on it, with no power commander. Is that bad for the engine? I know some stock bikes can run a slip-on with fueling changes and some can't. Thanks!

The majority of SV owners with aftermaket slip-ons are running them without a PC. The engine probably won't be running as efficiently as it could, but I've yet to see any evidence of damage caused by not having one. You will notice a bit of popping when rolling off the throttle at times. |

New SV650 owner here. I've been riding a borrowed SV occasionally for a while, anyway I liked the bike enough that the experience compelled me to score a cheap '99 with some suspension upgrades and a Yoshi full Ti/SS system off CL. I was expecting to find a beater when I went to look at it, but I can't believe how clean this thing is for a thirteen year old bike, and I can't wait to put some miles on it
. First impressions are that the pipe sounds great with a quiet insert and the suspension is night and day compared to the stock setup one I've ridden. Now to find some luggage...

Damn, seeing those pictures reminds me of how much I need a better windscreen. The aftermarket POS the previous owner put on mine makes interstate speeds feel like a tornado.

Too bad, as it's a very well made, thick screen that fit perfectly, and holds up well to scratches.

Any thoughts on a Gen I (1999-2002) SV650 v/s a Gen II (2002+) SV650?
Other that fuel injection, any other major changes? Do they ride differently? Different power delivery? I like the looks of a Gen I... but I'm a little concerned with buying a 10+ year old bike. |

Gen2 made a touch more HP, but at this level, it makes litle difference. Gen 2 has a bit larger fuel tank, greater range (I get around 55mpg unless hammering the highway into wind all day) Here is the Wiki page with all the comparative dimensions http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_SV650

Thanks for the info and the link.
Do you think a 10-12 year old SV650 will start showing problems due to age? Even if the mileage is not too high (15k)? |
