Kudos to the rider (and the brakes) for reacting that quickly even if did mean going all the way over the bars. Unfortunately the person that actually caused the accident probably just kept on going.

Look harder still... at about 0:15 or 0:16, if you look at the road along the left trolley rail, you can see some missing asphalt along the rail a couple of feet before where the bike landed. Likely a combination of two. When he reacted and got on the brakes HARD, his front tire also got trapped in this missing asphalt. If you look close at the video you can that his bike is pretty much lined up with that left trolley rail.

I wish I knew how to do a screen grab from youtube... I'd post it up.

Edit: Also visible near the orange shoe at around :051.

Plus I don't think the chances of such a "neat" endo are likely otherwise, he was at least dipped in the rail if not grabbed by it.

it's not about being faster or racing or anything. it's about being best prepared to survive in a world where the unexpected and things outside of your control do happen.
Perhaps substitute the practice of a higher risk skill with the development of more observation and anticipation. Looking further ahead and giving yourself more time to respond appropriately.

After all how many events are truly out of our own control?

Not to mention doing the worst thing possible by sticking out his leg in case he slips. (Not to be confused with the foot forward method of riding!)

Meh, depends on how fast he's actually going, and what kind of sole his boots have. I've planted a foot a time or two on pavement, but not with grippy boots...

Something like this, more 'foot down' than 'leg out'...

Only done it in the rain or when there's something in the road that might give me trouble...

I don't know if it's related to his death or if it's usually like this..... but..... there were no less than 8 speed traps..... 5 in a 1/2 mile span..... by evening this past weekend.

Don't get caught doing 57 in a 30 on the dragon..... unless you've got great boobs and the cop who turned around to pull ya over has a thing for redheads.

Sarcasm! And as far as I remember, ABS was an option for 2010, became standard later on.

So... All kinds of evidence of the 57 in the 30, but no evidence of the great boobs. You can't allege that you've got great boobs unless you're going to demonstrate said boobs so we can determine their greatness on our own. This is not something you can determine for yourself. Your bias is obvious. You need at least 30 objective, non-biased, complete strangers on the internet to determine that for you. So... let's see 'em.
