I've always used tape and a hacksaw. Tape your bars where you want to cut, then saw away. When putting on your new grips, use clear spray laquer. It'll stick like crazy!

If you don't have pipe cutters, a good set of tubing cutters will work great

Hers a new idea.

Cutting the bar as Rick mentioned will work and is easy. BUT it removes valuable STRAIGHT bar space and everything becomes crowded with swithes and all. You may have to relocate stuff on the 530. I did.

New trick. Lots of trouble and expensive. Remove bars - cut section out of middle add sleeve and reweld.
Same bar space area but shoter bar length.

Waysherr can do the welding...

Could have used that advice before wedging myself between two trees at Mossy.

other option...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Fly-Mini-Han...27b8bc&vxp=mtr

cheaper, easier, and the difference in 85 bars and full size? the mid section..

That's awesome Hatch. I was just discussing that w/ R.H. and R.I.I. at Mossy this weekend. Used to run those on my KDX out at Chumuckla/Champion Paper Mill territory. Had few really close trees out there that even R.I.I. wouldn't have been able to wheelie through....

Yo, Rotorhead, I got a air powered cutoff tool, or a tubing cutter. the tubing cutter makes the most precise and cleanest cut. Cheapest, easiest, least sweat. If you have bars u like but are just too wide, what Vico said is pretty trick, but requires a little planning. But if you got somebody that can weld... Just don't let Waysherr alone with your bike. He will violate it in ways that are illegal in 47 states.

Welcome to borrow my stuff-- but I am out of town Friday-Monday.

-Got new seat foam for the Hoosie. I know-- I sit down when I ride. Crazy huh? If I could stand up I'd be really fast...
That is all. Resume beer drinking.

Skid, did you ever ride on the HUGE bark pile St. Regis had in the 70's......that was a blast!! I had a buddy that lived next door and he had a "hole" cut in the fence we could go through and get up on the pile. It was like enormous dunes with traction
