Black Fog Light brackets and Windshield mounts
I've always hated the metallic color of the fog light and windshield brackets. So when I did the windshield riser mod this past weekend (which helped a ton), I also pulled a tip from the stromtrooper forum and bought a can of this stuff:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o05_s00_i00 A cheaper/quicker/faster solution for those of us not set up to powder coat. Looks tons better. Not sure why I didn't do it a long time ago. |

+1 The road wasn't all dry hard pack either. Quite of bit of slop on that long descent.
Its refreshing to see some jungle scenery or maybe a FARC road block. I doubt some "gnarly adventurers" here would even ride in Colombia, even if they won a free trip.

Columbia Riding?
Quote:
I wouldn't. The guy we put up for a few days from Canada that was riding to South American has gone missing. Last blog update was July in Panama, and no responses to emails. Thread and link here: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=784307 EDIT: Well, low and behold...got a message from Dominic today. He's alive and well in Vancouver. Flew out of Panama with his bike the end of July. I still wouldn't ride the jungles of Columbia...I'd be too skeered.

I noticed a cut with a lump in the rear tire today. After some prodding...
![]() and a little more. ![]() The tire still holds air just fine, but I wonder if the nail scratched the tube. Think I should pull the tire or just keep on riding it?

http://www.tiger800.co.uk/index.php/topic,2486.0.html Basically cut six aluminum strips (for the adjustable screen) to raise your windscreen to the desired level. I’m 5’11” and ended up with just over 40mm’s. It helped clean up wind noise. |

Home-brew pre-filter
I'm at 13,000 miles and just put in my 3rd air filter at $30 a pop, even with blowing it out a few times along the way. Way too hard to get to and too easy to get it really dirty, really fast. I ride a lot of off-road dirt bikes and on my KTM I've been really happy with the pre-filter they have. Works great in super dusty conditions and extends filter changes to at least twice as long. So I went and picked up a KTM pre-filter ($11.99 at my local shop), drilled some extra holes in the snorkel, treated the pre-filter with No-Toil oil, wrapped the snorkel with the pre-filter like a taco and zip-tied it in place. Should be way easier to clean the pre-filter and I'm guessing it'll block 90% of what would normally get to the filter.
