I am going to book my hotel today for the motogp weekend and hopefully beat any price increase. Can any of the locals tell me what side of town the track is on and where there might be a relatively nearby cluster of cheapish hotels?

If you're not wanting to stay downtown, you might look at Georgetown, Round Rock and San Marcos. All are within easy driving distance. You might consider downtown, though. Austin is a great city with a really cool nightlife. The food and music are world class.

Well the Red Roof Inn in Austin has rooms for $516.66 per night for the F1 Weekend. Hope they choke on it!!

MotoGp weekend is still $59.99. Wonder if they would cancel and raise the rates later?

Can they really cancel your room after you've already reserved it? That would be fucked.
I made reservations at some place kinda close to the track. With tax etc.. it was about $210 for 3 nights.
