Thoughts on my first 500 km 2012 ural
I have just clocked up over 500 kilometers on my 2012 ural retro. So i have descided to pleasure you with my thoughts so far.
1. Speed: As its running in I have ran it at every speed up to 60 mph (100K) for a brief period with no problems. 2. Oil use, negligble less than 100 mls 3.Oil leaks, slight weep at sump, nipped the bolts up. 4. Ride, excelant nil issues, handled secondary road with nill worry issues 5 Handerling, Great. headshake at any speed .Nil nada, non. no sore arms after ride.6 Chair, my wife loves it and commented after a 250 klm trip that she was comfortable and relaxed. 7. Reserve, is Russain for shit 2 liters left, 10 mins down the road, filling up from fuel can. ![]() 8.Exhaust. Happy with the stock. found out if you lean over the bike to switch fuel tap, then right leg is able to cook itself on the hot pipe. ![]() 9. Will be carrying out an intrem service this week, to drain the nastys including oil filter. ( possibly anal but thats me) Quick question Just put some 95 octain fuel in the beast and noticed an inprovment in throttle responce strait away. Any reason not to use this instead of 91 octain as suggested. ![]() Baz . |

Where do you live? Octane rating is different in europe than it is in USA.
I'd like to see pix too, if you don't mind |

If you go off road you will learn to hate the exhaust.

I like mine.... Makes bubbles in the creek.it also takes all the rock damage for the frame. Now I have to get a new one as it has more holes bashed in it than is tolerable.

I have a 650. I actually have a 2 into one header I picked up on ebay 40,000km ago, but thanks for the offer.. I plan on building a high right side exhaust when I get around to it, but This one is already so crunchy, It doesn't hurt my feelings when I bash it again... Now I have to fix that water going into the intake in the creek problem....

Having ripped off, and dented my stock exhaust many, many times, I've gotten really good at getting around boulders and other obstacles for the most part.
I think starting off roading with the stock exhaust builds basic riding skill, and character(to the stock mufflers )I feel like I've gotten really good at avoiding the boulder in the road these days. I've recently ordered the cob skid plate, so I will probably start ramming into crap now, and tearing off my stock mufflers again. ![]() Non the less I would like to have a 2 into 1, but the price is keeping me away for now. -T
