I have yet to see it in the summer lush/green. So far early Spring(April), Early Fall (September), and Fall (October). My favorite so far is October, but I would like to see it when everything is green as well. |

Hi Ron. I will probably pass you at some point. I decided to delay my start by a week.

Toronto to BRP and back this week
Great thread!!
Left Toronto Canada on Monday on my F800gs to start off in Front Royal on the Skyline Drive then BRP. My first time here. It is absolutely beautiful!! Love it!! I've never seen such a wonderful road free of truck traffic full of scenic beauty and that just goes on forever...What a great execution of a world class motorcycle road!! I'm in Roanoke right now heading to Asherville Thursday night (hope to make it all the way there) and back northbound on Friday this week. See you on the road (or trail:) I'm already thinking of my next trip where I can stay longer in one place. This time, I want to see it all if I can. |

My problem is,which bike to take.I ride the lower 100 miles several times a year.I've only been north once in the fog to Meadows Of Dan.Do I take the Goldwing and do End 2 End and check out Mt.Airy, and some side pavement,or the KTM950 Adv. and get down & dirty and camp in the woods some ?
Oh,7 - 9 day trip range.

I'd think the Wing would be a handful once off the Parkway. A lighter bike would be more fun on the county/state roads.

Just got into Asheville 2 hours ago. WOW!!! What a ride. If someone said that this road was built for motorcycle touring, I'd believe it!!! The sun was out, it was warm, very little traffic, awesome views. Ended up on Route 80 south from the Parkway, man that was spectacular. Hair pin turns over and over for miles down the mountains. That was amazing too, couldn't even stop for a picture of the road without worrying about pulling off safely. Tomorrow a little visit around town and heading back north. Enjoy your rides all! Thanks for the heads up, it was great.

6 days and counting, this time Saturday I'll be headed for the Parkway. The wife and I rode around Clayton,Ga yesterday,,not much color yet,but with the colder weather this week ,and some frost in the mountains
I haven't had the KTM out lately,so today I'm taking it for a check out spin, put some new tyres on,and start packing.
