TAG ON!
The place used to be called Vertical Edge. Thinking they confused more folks than they'd planned.

This company featured in the news here about a month ago:

Keys for the highway as requiem sounds for piano

Go and read the story! It's about what happens to old pianos.

Here's their website too.

There's only one problem. They move pianos. The dispose of old pianos. They rent out pianos. They store and tune pianos.

But they don't actually seem to sell pianos!

On the other hand, the piano "retailer" below seems to be marked "Piano and Organ distribution", which isn't really retail either.

And I am sure that if you wanted a piano to destroy at a rock concert, Piano Moves would find something to sell to you.

So what do you reckon, will this do?

Trust me, they're a customer of mine. They're piano retailers.

So do I need to find a proper piano shop with no interesting story (there are several around here), or will you accept the interesting piano wrecker that can sell you a sacrificial piano for a rock concert?

New tag is a stalled or abandoned construction project:

On my way to this site (which I happened to notice in some aerial photography), I waited something like 10 minutes at a level crossing while 3 trains passed. The northbound trains passed very slowly and when I reached the site a short distance south down the line, there was a train stopped and waiting, presumably for a signalling issue:

(That gave me an excuse to use my second photo)

You can see how long this site dep in suburbia has been inactive from these aerial photos from nearmap.com:

April this year:

The oldest photo I could find, November 2009, and the timber looks pretty weathered by then:

Presumably the builder fell victim to the 2008 GFC; completely stalled residential projects like this are quite unusual in Melbourne. The local councils do not like this happening and the building permits typically have an end date by which homes must be completed and have a certificate of occupancy.

This property was advertised for about $1.4m about a year ago:
Development Site MUST BE SOLD
Description:

Position Perfect, ready to go with plans and permits for 6 double story townhouses, land size 1502 sq metres, close to shops, school and public transport.

A month ago an application was made to build 22 units there! High density living at its finest...

OK, this is going stale; lets open it up to include:
  • any building site, stalled or active
  • a stalled project of any kind
(eg: a half built boat in a backyard or a car or motorbike in pieces all over the garage and in no real danger of getting reassembled in the foreseeable future).

By my reckoning, its Sunday afternoon in Europe and Sunday morning in North America, lets get this one done today!

Not sure if this is active or abandoned. Probably on hiatus. It hasn't budged in at least a year. Don't get by here that much, so I'm not entirely sure.

New tag

A building abandoned on the other end of its life - in some degree of collapse.

GRAB! Abandoned building...

And the NEW TAG!

A Campsite, or a covered picnic table, or both, like this...

Sorry about the picture quality. Wasn't really a good way to photo it tonight.
