At DMV now, engine number location? 09 950SE
Trying to title bike. At DMV. Can't find engine numer location on 2009 950 SE

Just in front of the shift lever. (LEFT SIDE) Should be a machined flat with some numbers.

So I ended up going to CHP and the two officers who helped me were both dirt bike riders! One was a KTM rider and the other Yamaha.
They immediately found the engine number and we chatted for a bit ... super cool guys! +1 CHP ... thanks guys! +1 advrider.com ... I received several texts and the reply from CJ above as I was finishing up at CHP. Gotta love the internets! |

F-in DMV employees and their lack of ability to do a simple VIN verification. I've had more than one CHP verifier complain that the DMV nitwits don't know how do their job, and simply pass it on to law enforcement. Worse is when you need to make an appointment for the CHP for a simple VIN verification, and the nearest appointment is 2-months out. Sheesh.
You got lucky you were able to get CHP to look at it so quickly.
