Eta?

HAs KTM made any official announcements about availability of the 1190 in the USA? I have heard 2014 model yr available late 2013 but not sure this is rumor or from KTM directly?

Here is a thought. Husaberg 70 degree style parallel twin, SOHC and conventional or trellis frame. Two EXC450 cylinders/heads tuned to 85 EPA HP. Airfilter trapped in tank with TOOL-LESS ACCESS!!!!! (the way a KTM should be!) Fuel tank cast to span the top of the bike from steering head to rear fender, dipping down to underseat area. Thin, light, totally different and the crank location changes the dynamic of the entire machine. Ride a Burg and you'll understand!
A parallel twin will be wider not narrower and Husaberg dropped the 70 degree engine because KTM didn't want to redesign the the cases so 2013 Huasbergs are just white KTMs. Guess they're not interested in making new engines even if they're not new. I'm sad because I love my 'burg but there's no point to them now. They've been assimilated.

All things being equal it would be wider, but the LC-8 is more massive than it needs to be a decade after its introduction. A parallel twin with stacked gearbox and acessories run off a balance shaft could be narrower than the current engine, especially with cylinders based on the EXCs parts.

The Akra exhaust looks nice too... a twin exhaust in one large canister should help with the dB's.
The RC8R is loud with the stock exhaust, and ear bleedingly loud with an aftermarket exhaust, even with baffle... a 1200cc twin with 13.5:1 comp makes a big boom... I notice the 1190 in the Adv is softened down to 12.5:1 which will help some, and with this Akra, should sound really nice without being obnoxious.

Wow!

Okay, not a KTM owner but to me this looks pretty awesome.

I'll be ready to buy this summer and I've added this bike to my list. I will go wherever I have to for a demo ride.

I'm going to follow this with extreme interest.

Now these are the pics I have been waiting to see! They should have led with these. Hope they got some video of that photo shoot as well.

Teutonic Assholes...

I fully expect the 1190 to appeal to a broad segment of the market; provided, however, they don’t screw something up, like not getting the mapping right.

An 800cc twin, vee or parallel, would be interest if it weighed no more than a 640 Adventure.

I just wish that the KTM marketing department would pull their collective head out of their Teutonic ass and release a 690 Adventure or, if they really want to avoid the homologation expenses, they should offer a Hard Parts kit to convert an Enduro R. (I'm unimpressed by the RallyRaid and Dottori offerings).

In so doing, they would at least get some return on the bazillion euros they invest in winning the Dakar. Why spend all that money and then not sell a model to capitalize on it? It doesn’t take a graduate degree in finance or marketing to understand that is just a waste of money.

I’m on my 7th KTM, all of which I love, but I hate the company now more than ever…what a bunch of ass wipes.
