Then, please, what are the causes of most accidents on this stretch of road?
Alcohol, target fixation, insufficient ability and training, failure to maintain control. I didn't say that speed wasn't a factor, I said excessive speed. If speed weren't a factor, it would be a drop, not a crash. And if you want drops, sit in the parking lot at the store, it won't take long to see a few.

Slowing down is a marvelous way to mitigate all of those except alcohol.

Many happen at a speed where the gyroscopic effect is negligible. In other words, if the slow down any more, they'll fall over. So, how would slowing down help those that can't manage to turn out of the parking lot and ride straight up the hill leaving the parking lot? You obviously haven't seen the inexperience and ineptitude present at the Gap. Trust me when I say, speed ain't got nothin' to do with it.

Yeah. I've seen it. I've been there, and a few similar places. Parking lot fails are not the issue here. The vast majority of failures in this thread, and on motorcycles in general, would be avoided, or at least be less disastrous, if the rider would simply slow down.

Nope... but adding certain individuals to the ignore list certainly will (at least for me).

Right click on the image. Should be one of the choices

Not Killboy related, but cool nonetheless

Any of y'all remember Breaking Away?

I don't know about the state of motorcycling and driving in Aus, but we've got some pretty bad riders and drivers here. Which should be obvious by the number of people who in this thread have crashed or crossed the center lane, and the gap attracts douche bags. It's a really awesome road and there are lots of other really awesome roads around there, but I'd never be on it on a weekend these days.

Techincal refers to the nature of the turns many of the turns have radius changes and elevation changes.
